Kalakshetra BASS Librarian Recruitment 2026: Overview

Kalakshetra Foundation (KF), an Institution of National Importance and an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is hiring a Librarian for its Besant Arundale Senior Secondary School (BASS). This is a direct recruitment to a regular Group B post, so it is a career job rather than a contract or guest engagement.

The notice wants an experienced hand: you need a Master's degree and a Bachelor of Library Science, plus years of work in a government or special library. What makes this opening different is the desirable list. Apart from an MLISc and library automation skills, the Foundation would like someone who can read and understand Sanskrit and other south Indian languages and read music notations. If you have worked with arts, music or language collections, you will stand out here.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reservation: The post is unreserved (UR) and open to applicants from every category on general terms.
• Departmental candidates: No relaxation in the upper age limit is available for departmental candidates.
• Date of birth: Only the date of birth recorded in your Matriculation / Class 10 certificate is accepted, and no later change is allowed.
• Declared results only: Your degree results must be declared before the closing date. At document verification you bring original mark sheets for all years or semesters.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the eligibility rules does not guarantee a call. Only shortlisted applicants are invited to the written test and skill test.
• Exam scheme: The scheme of examination will be published later on the Kalakshetra Foundation website, so keep checking it after you apply.
• Number of posts may change: The vacancy can vary based on the actual position at final selection, and the Foundation can cancel, restrict or modify the process without giving reasons.
• Tie-breaking: If combined written and skill test scores are equal, the older candidate ranks higher, then alphabetical order of names.
• Travel and stay: No travelling allowance is paid for the written or skill test. If the process runs beyond one day, you arrange your own travel and stay in Chennai.
• Misconduct: Malpractice at any stage cancels your candidature and debars you from future Kalakshetra recruitments. Canvassing in any form also disqualifies you.
• Disputes: Legal disputes fall under the courts and tribunals in Chennai.

Application Submission Notes

This is an offline, postal application, and applications sent by email are rejected. Fill in the Annexure-I form from the notification with a blue or black ball-point pen, paste one recent passport-size photo on it and add one extra photo in the cover for your call letter.

Post the form with self-attested copies of your certificates to The Director, Kalakshetra Foundation, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai – 600 041, with "Application for the post of Librarian, BASS School" written on the envelope. It must reach the office by 5:30 PM on the closing day. Use the checklist page attached to the form, because incomplete applications or ones without self-attested copies are rejected.
