Kalakshetra Assistant Professor Bharatanatyam Recruitment 2026: Overview

Kalakshetra Foundation, an autonomous Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is filling one Assistant Professor (Bharatanatyam) post at its Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts (RDCFA) on the Thiruvanmiyur campus in Chennai. It is a Group B post filled on deputation or short-term contract, open to serving teachers from government institutions as well as experienced dancers from outside the system.

You will teach the college's Diploma and Post-Diploma students across junior and senior levels, including theory taught in English. Outside the classroom, the job puts you on stage and in the rehearsal hall: you will choreograph dance dramas, run rehearsals with the Dance section, advise the Costume Department and travel with Kalakshetra artists for performances at the campus and abroad.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Two routes: Officers in central, state or autonomous institutions who hold an analogous post, or who have long regular service in the grade below, come on deputation. Eminent artists and private persons who meet the same essential qualifications come on a short-term contract.
• Pay matrix: Pay is fixed on the Tamil Nadu State pay matrix under the 7th Pay Commission, not the central government matrix.
• Stage ability: You must be able to give a solo performance of about two hours and to sing and conduct dance programmes through nattuvangam.
• Teaching language: You should be able to handle all junior and senior classes and theory in English.
• Productions: Taking part in Kalakshetra productions and art festivals is part of the job.
• Skill test: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a skill test if the institution finds it necessary.
