IIT Roorkee Project Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is hiring a Project Scientist for a research project in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The project is sponsored by DRDO, New Delhi and led by Principal Investigator Prof. Karun Rawat. This is a contractual, project-linked role — it is not a regular faculty or staff post at the institute. It suits you if you hold an M.Tech, M.E. or PhD in electronics or electrical engineering and want hands-on work in RF hardware.

The project is titled "Design and implementation of Advance Techniques in Nonlinear Power Amplifiers – Optimizing Size, Weight and Power (SWaP)". Put simply, the team wants RF power amplifiers that are smaller, lighter and use less power. Your work will cover the full cycle — design, simulation, fabrication and testing of RF and microwave power amplifier circuits — along with lab validation and research papers. A publication in an SCI-indexed journal or a reputed international conference, and earlier work on power amplifiers, will make your profile stronger.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Tenure: The advertisement gives two different durations — 3 years in the project details and "1 year or until the completion of the project" in a later clause. Check the exact initial term with the Principal Investigator's office before you join.
• Project-linked: The position exists only for this DRDO-sponsored project and ends with it.
• Preference: When qualifications and experience are equal, SC/ST candidates get preference.
• Interview travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
