Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) has opened 1 Junior Research Fellow post under Prof. Sharad Gupta (Advertisement No. SPON/63056/Advt0243). The selected fellow will work on a project titled "Development and Validation of a Peptide-Based Screening Platform for Evaluating Anti-alpha-Synuclein Aggregation Interventions in Parkinson's Disease." Day to day, you will synthesise peptides, run protein expression and purification, carry out aggregation and inhibitor assays, and handle spectroscopic and microscopic analysis, along with organising research data and lab records. This is a temporary research post for 6 months from the date of joining, and it can be extended based on your performance and the project's needs.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A Post Graduate degree in a Basic Science, or a graduate/post-graduate degree in a professional course such as B.Tech, M.Tech, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Mandatory selection route: You must qualify through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship) and GATE, or through a national-level examination conducted by central government bodies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER or NISER.
• Preferred experience: Hands-on work in peptide synthesis and biophysical characterization, or in protein expression, purification, characterization and protein-based assays. Good communication skills will help.

Salary

• With GATE or NET, you will get Rs. 36,000 per month (including House Rent Allowance).
• Without GATE/NET, the fellowship is Rs. 23,213 per month.
• A House Rent Allowance of Rs. 5,000 per month applies for GATE/NET-qualified fellows, where applicable.

Selection Process
