IISER Tirupati is hiring 1 Research Associate-1 in the Department of Biology under a research project on tomato genome editing. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati has released a notification under Advertisement No. 38/2026 for 1 Research Associate-1 position. This is a purely contract-based post under the project titled "Targeted Genome Editing in Tomato for Enhanced Climate Resilience", working with Principal Investigator Dr. Eswarayya Ramireddy. The research area covers plant biology and agricultural biotechnology. If you are a Ph.D. holder in Life Sciences who wants hands-on research experience at a premier institute of national importance, this is a good opportunity.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Ph.D. degree in any area of Life Sciences.
• Thesis submitted candidates: If you have submitted your thesis and are awaiting your Ph.D. award, you can also apply.
• Research record: You should be able to show evidence of high-quality research done during or after your Ph.D.
• Desirable: Experience in gene editing, Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation in tomato, or studying host-pathogen interactions in tomato is preferred.

Age Limit

• You should be not more than 35 years old as on the closing date of the advertisement (8 June 2026).

Salary

• Rs. 58,000 per month + 9% HRA if you produce your Ph.D. certificate.
• Rs. 42,000 per month + 9% HRA if your Ph.D. degree is awaited (you must produce a letter from a competent authority stating that the thesis is submitted and the viva/defense is pending).
• A nominal research grant is also available under this program.

Selection Process

Selection is done in two steps:

1. Screening: A Screening Committee will shortlist candidates based on qualification and experience above the minimum. Not everyone who meets the basic eligibility will be called.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
