Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), a major port on India's east coast functioning under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has released Employment Notice No. C2/03/2026 for engaging 1 Fire Officer in its Marine Department. This is a contract position, initially for a period of one year, and the contract can be extended at the discretion of the Port Authority. No written exam is required for this post — you will be shortlisted directly for certificate verification and interview based on your qualifications, training, and experience. This is a good opportunity if you already have solid fire service supervisory experience and want a stable government contract role with a strong monthly salary. VPA has also reserved the right to cancel this notification, or to increase or decrease the number of posts, and may decide its own method of selecting candidates.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a graduate from a recognized university or institution.
• Fire Training: You must have completed at least 6 months of training at a recognized Fire Training Institute or College.
• Driving License: You need a valid driving license for both light and heavy vehicles.
• Experience: You need at least 3 years of working experience in a supervisory capacity in a large Fire Service Establishment in an industry or government undertaking.
• Computer Skills: You should be comfortable operating computers and MS Office applications.

If you clear the interview, you will also need to undergo and pass a heavy vehicle driving test before you are finally selected. As Fire Officer, you will be expected to keep the port area in good repair from a fire-safety standpoint, help implement the port's mutual aid scheme, and take up other fire-safety responsibilities as prescribed by the Port Authority, including being called upon by the competent authorities as needed.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 40 years old as on the date of notification, i.e. 9 July 2026.
• The crucial date for determining your eligibility (age, qualification, and experience) is the date of the notification.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 60,000.
• This is a fixed consolidated payment for the entire contract period — the notification does not mention any separate allowances.
• The contract is for one year from your date of joining, and it can be extended at the discretion of the Port Authority.
• VPA can terminate or end the contract at any time without assigning any reason.
• If you want to resign, you must give one month's notice. If you resign without notice, your last month's pay will be forfeited.

Physical Standards

• Height: Minimum 167 cm
• Chest (Normal): Minimum 81 cm
• Chest (Expanded): Minimum 5 cm increase over normal
• Weight: Minimum 50 kg

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Certificate Verification: A verification committee will check your educational, experience, and age documents. Only candidates recommended by this committee move ahead.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for a personal interview.
3. Heavy Vehicle Driving Test: If you are recommended at the interview stage, you must also pass a heavy vehicle driving test.
