NIT Andhra Pradesh has released a notification for one Project Associate I and one Project Associate II position under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India sponsored project titled "Developing Industrial Enzymes for Levofloxacin Precursors" (sanction number BT/PR60982/BME/172/31/2025). The project is jointly run by the Department of Biotechnology (DBTH) and Department of Civil Engineering (DCVE) and will run for 2 years (2026-2028), with the tenure of assignment renewed year to year based on performance and fund availability. Selection is based on qualifications, experience and an interview — there is no written exam. This is a good opportunity for life sciences and biotechnology graduates to gain hands-on research experience.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Associate I (Rs. 25,000/month):

• You need First Class in B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Bio-Chemical Engineering, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, Genetics or an equivalent/relevant field.
• You should have a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA in your UG or PG degree. For SC/ST/PWD candidates, the minimum is 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA.
• Final-year students of B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc. can also apply, but must submit their provisional/degree certificate at the time of joining if selected.

For Project Associate II (Rs. 28,000/month):

• Same educational qualification as Project Associate I (First Class in B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc. in a relevant field, with 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA, or 55%/6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD).
• You also need a minimum of 2 years of experience in R&D at an industrial or academic institution, or a science and technology organization.

Desired Experience (for both posts):

• Hands-on experience handling recombinant microbial cultures (screening, preservation, maintenance and culturing)
• Knowledge of vector selection, cloning, recombinant expression, and biotransformation/bioconversion studies
• Familiarity with AI-based screening of novel enzymes and enzyme engineering for enhanced stability and reactivity
• Good English writing, statistical knowledge and report writing skills

Your qualification must be from a recognized University/Institute, and your eligibility in terms of age, qualification and experience will be checked as on the last date for receipt of application.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit for both posts is 35 years, as per DST guidelines (SR/S9/Z-05/2019 dated 10 July 2020).
• Your age will be calculated as on the last date for receipt of application, 22 July 2026.

Salary

• Project Associate I: Rs. 25,000 per month + 9% House Rent Allowance
• Project Associate II: Rs. 28,000 per month + 9% House Rent Allowance
• No other benefits (such as housing) are provided — the positions are purely temporary and do not confer any right to a regular appointment.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on your qualifications, experience and an interview:

2. Interview: The tentative interview date is 27 July 2026 at 09:30 AM at the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya (MMM) Academic Complex, NIT Andhra Pradesh, Tadepalligudem. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed by email, and the mode of interview will also be communicated by email.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Bring all original certificates including mark sheets, experience certificates, and updated CV to the interview.
