VOCPA Chief Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA), under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is recruiting a Chief Engineer to head its Civil Engineering Department at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. This is a deputation appointment for the Class I Head of Department post. Your application involves both the ministry portal and forwarding through your current organisation, so the employer’s part of the process matters as much as your own submission.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The stated appointment runs for three years from taking charge, with a possible extension of up to two years. An extension is a provision in the terms, rather than an automatic entitlement.
• Withdrawal after selection: If you withdraw after being selected, you can be barred from future selection to Head of Department posts across all Major Port Authorities for two years. The application includes an undertaking about this condition.
• Leave administration: Your parent organisation’s leave rules continue to apply. VOCPA keeps your leave account using the balance supplied by that organisation and informs it when leave is sanctioned.
• Retirement arrangements: Pension, National Pension System and provident-fund arrangements depend on the scheme that already covers you in your parent organisation. The deputation annexure explains the contribution and remittance arrangements for each case.
• Early return: VOCPA can return you to your parent organisation before the deputation ends. Normally, it gives three months’ advance notice to you and your organisation, but exceptional cases can be handled without that notice.
• Departmental inquiry: If an inquiry needs to begin during your deputation, VOCPA may return you to your parent organisation. This condition is separate from the normal tenure arrangement.
• Other service terms: Matters not covered by the deputation annexure follow VOCPA’s rules and orders. Any relaxation of the stated conditions needs the port authority’s approval.

Application Submission Notes

After applying through the Online Application Portal (OAP), give the printout to your administrative organisation for forwarding. The forwarded application must be addressed to The Secretary, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin – 628004.

Mark the envelope “Application for the post of Chief Engineer in V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority”. Your organisation must send the complete application together, because the port will not accept material forwarded in separate parts.

An advance copy does not replace forwarding through your employer. The notice says that, where an advance copy is received, your candidature will not be considered if the proper-channel application fails to reach the port within 15 days of the application closing date.

Incomplete applications, applications that do not follow the prescribed process, and late applications will not be considered. Coordinate with your administrative organisation so its forwarding is completed within the notice’s stated requirements.
