IISER Tirupati Research Associate-1 Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati, an Autonomous Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, invites applications from Indian nationals for 1 Research Associate-1 post on a contract basis. The position is under an ANRF-funded project (Project Code 30225242) titled "Exploring Optical Activity in Intrinsically Chiral Plasmonic Nanostructures: Bridging Nanoscale Design with Enantioselective Applications", with Dr. Jatish Kumar as the Principal Investigator. No written exam is required — selection is based on screening and interview.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a Ph.D. degree in any area of Chemistry or a related subject.
• Thesis submitted candidates: If you have submitted your thesis and are awaiting the award of the Ph.D. degree, you are also eligible. You will need to produce a letter from a competent authority stating the thesis has been submitted and the final viva/defence is pending.
• Research record: You should provide evidence of having conducted high-quality research during or after your Ph.D. programme.
• Degree source: Your qualification must be from a recognised university or institution.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

Desirable Qualities

• Experience in Metal and Organic Nanomaterial Synthesis and Characterization
• Basic knowledge in Photophysical and Chiroptical investigations
• Experience in Theoretical Simulations is preferred

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on the closing date of the advertisement (17 April 2026).

Salary

• For Ph.D. holders: Rs. 58,000 per month + 10% HRA (total approximately Rs. 63,800 per month).
• For thesis-submitted candidates (degree awaited): Rs. 42,000 per month + 10% HRA (total approximately Rs. 46,200 per month).
• A nominal research grant will also be available under this programme.
• Tenure: One year initially, extendable by another six months after a performance review.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

1. Screening of Applications: The Screening Committee will review all applications and shortlist candidates based on qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. The mode and venue will be communicated by email only.
3. Document Verification: Your original certificates and testimonials will be verified at the appropriate stage.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Mere possession of the minimum qualification does not entitle you to be called for an interview.

• Carry out experimental and theoretical investigations on chiral molecules and nanomaterials under the ANRF project
• Synthesise and characterise metal and organic nanomaterials in the Chemistry lab
• Perform photophysical and chiroptical measurements on intrinsically chiral plasmonic nanostructures
• Conduct theoretical simulations to support experimental findings on nanoscale chirality
• Maintain detailed lab records and prepare research reports for the Principal Investigator
• Analyse data and help draft manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
• Assist in mentoring Ph.D. and Masters students working on related sub-projects
• Follow laboratory safety protocols and keep instruments in good working condition
