Indian Institute of Management Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) has released Advertisement No. Admn/Rectt/2026/21 for Medical Officer posts at its campus health centre. The appointment is purely on a contract basis, with a tenure of 3 years that can be extended based on performance and requirement. Selection is mainly through interview, and shortlisted applicants will be informed by email.

The Medical Officer will provide campus healthcare support for students, staff, and residents. The work includes OPD consultation, emergency care, medical records, reimbursement checks, pharmacy coordination, and health-related activities for the IIM Mumbai community.

The duty pattern is roster-based, so the selected doctor should be comfortable with 8-hour shifts, evening coverage, Sunday or holiday duty when assigned, and emergency medical calls. One weekly off is provided when roster duty is assigned on a Sunday or public holiday.

Who Can Apply?

Minimum Qualification and Registration

• Qualification: You must have an MD from a medical college or university recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI).
• Medical registration: You need valid and current registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council, State Medical Council, or Indian Medical Register.
• Experience: You need at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in clinical practice or general medicine in a recognised hospital, dispensary, or institutional health centre.

Desirable Experience

• Campus healthcare: Prior work as a Medical Officer or Part-Time Medical Officer in an IIM, IIT, NIT, Central University, or similar central institution is preferred.
• Health centre management: Experience with dispensary work, basic diagnostics, medical records, and health administration will help.
• Specialisation: A post-graduate qualification in General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Community Health, or a related discipline is desirable.
• Records and coordination: Familiarity with medical records, reimbursement rules, empanelled hospitals, pharmacies, and institutional health administration is useful for this role.

Age Limit

• The preferred age limit is below 50 years.
• Age reference: The application form asks for age as on the closing date, which is 10 July 2026.
• IIM Mumbai may relax selection criteria for exceptionally deserving candidates.

Salary

• Monthly consolidated salary is Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 70,000 per month, all inclusive.
• Mobile reimbursement is Rs. 1,000 per month.
• A duty room will be provided.
• The tenure is 3 years, extendable based on performance and requirement.
• For exceptionally deserving candidates, IIM Mumbai says there will be no bar to the monthly consolidated pay.
• The contracted duty hours should not exceed 40 hours per week. Extra hours, where comp-off cannot be given, may be paid on a pro-rata basis.
• For pay calculation, the notice uses 2,080 annual duty hours and an average of 173.33 monthly duty hours.
• The selected person may be hired through an outsourcing agency empanelled by IIM Mumbai.
• The doctor must remain available at the Institute Health Centre during the prescribed shift and complete shift handover before leaving.

Selection Process

IIM Mumbai will shortlist applicants and conduct the selection process mainly through interview. The interview date will be shared later through email only.

1. Shortlisting: The institute may restrict the number of shortlisted applicants based on higher qualifications and experience.
2. Interview: Selection is through interview, which may be conducted in online mode.
3. Optional Additional Test: Based on applications received, IIM Mumbai may conduct a written test, skill test, interview, or another suitable assessment. No detailed exam pattern is given in the notification.
4. Document Verification: Shortlisted applicants must bring original certificates, degrees, and experience documents at the time of interview along with one photocopy set.
5. Panel Validity: If IIM Mumbai prepares a waitlist, the panel can remain valid for 1 year from approval by the competent authority.
