ICAR-IVRI Young Professional-II (YP-II) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (ICAR-IVRI), Izatnagar, Bareilly has announced a walk-in interview for 1 Young Professional-II (YP-II) position under the ICAR-CRP project "Development of live attenuated indigenous genotype matched Newcastle disease virus vaccine". The role is based at the Division of Biological Standardization and is purely temporary and contractual, co-terminus with the project. Candidates with prior experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques will have an added advantage. This is a good opportunity for young life science or veterinary science graduates who want hands-on research experience in vaccine development at a premier ICAR institute.
ICAR-IVRI is one of the country's leading veterinary research institutes, and its Division of Biological Standardization works on developing and validating vaccines and biological products for animal diseases. Being part of a project focused on Newcastle disease virus — a serious poultry disease with major economic impact — gives a Young Professional the chance to work alongside senior scientists on applied vaccine research, not just routine laboratory duties. Since the engagement is tied to project funding and timelines, candidates should treat this as a focused, time-bound research assignment rather than a long-term institutional posting. The Young Professional scheme itself is a common entry point that ICAR institutes use to bring early-career science graduates into ongoing research projects, giving them practical exposure before they move on to higher research roles such as Junior Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Life Science / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Molecular Biology / Biochemistry, OR a graduate degree in Agriculture Science/Technology (this includes Agriculture & allied sciences, Animal Science, and Veterinary Science)
- Desirable Experience: Prior experience in cell culture and Molecular Biology techniques
If your postgraduate specialisation is in one of the life science streams listed above, you qualify directly. If instead you hold a graduate degree from an agriculture, animal science, or veterinary background, you are also eligible under the alternate route — you do not need a postgraduate qualification in that case. Either way, mentioning any hands-on laboratory experience with cell culture or molecular biology techniques in your application will strengthen your candidature, since it is explicitly called out as a desirable skill for this project.
Age Limit
- You should be between 21 and 45 years old, counted as on the date of the interview (23 July 2026).
- Age Relaxation: As per government rules for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-Servicemen).
Salary
- You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 42,000 per month.
- Income tax or other applicable tax will be deducted at source before your monthly payment.
- No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
- The engagement is renewable based on your performance and the availability of project funds, not on a fixed annual cycle.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection for this post is entirely through a walk-in interview — there is no written test, and no separate call letter or admit card will be issued:
- Walk-in Interview: Held on 23 July 2026 at 10:30 AM in the committee room of the Division of Biological Standardization, ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly.
Note: This is a purely temporary, contractual engagement that is co-terminus with the project. There is no provision for absorption or re-employment once the contract ends, and the tenure may be discontinued at any time for administrative reasons. You may also leave the assignment on your own by giving one month's notice.
