IASST Project Staff Recruitment 2026 - 5 Posts (Advt. No. 594)

The Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Garchuk, Guwahati, has released Advertisement No. 594 dated 27 May 2026 for 5 project positions. These posts are under a DBT-funded project titled Potential probiotics from the fermented food and beverages of the northeast India for better gut health and disease management. The project is being executed jointly with industry partner Bharat Biotech International Ltd. (BBIL), Hyderabad. This is a walk-in interview based selection — no written exam is required. Vacancy Breakdown

• Senior Project Associate: 2 posts (Salary: Rs. 42,000 + 18% HRA per month)
• Project Associate-II: 2 posts (Salary: Rs. 35,000 + 18% HRA for NET/GATE qualified; Rs. 28,000 + 18% HRA for others)

Who Can Apply?

Senior Project Associate

• Essential: Master's degree in Biotechnology or Microbiology with at least 4 years of research experience, OR a Ph.D in Biological Sciences from a recognised university.
• Desirable (Post 1): Experience in rodent model handling, downstream processing, animal-derived sample analysis, microbiological techniques, mammalian cell culture, and molecular biology.
• Desirable (Post 2): Experience in probiotic screening, microbiological techniques, and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) including library preparation, bioinformatics analysis, and computational biology tools.

Project Associate-II

• Essential: Master's degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or Veterinary Sciences with at least 2 years of research experience in biological sciences.
• Desirable: Experience handling microbes, molecular biology techniques, sample processing, standard microbiological lab practices, rodent model handling, and project data management.

Laboratory Assistant

• Essential: Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Zoology from a recognised university.
• Desirable: At least 2 years of experience in sponsored R&D projects, knowledge of project documentation, lab record maintenance, and handling laboratory instruments.

Age Limit

• Senior Project Associate: Maximum 40 years
• Project Associate-II: Maximum 35 years
• Laboratory Assistant: Maximum 50 years
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India guidelines for reserved categories

Salary

• Senior Project Associate: Rs. 42,000 + 18% HRA per month
• Project Associate-II (NET/GATE qualified): Rs. 35,000 + 18% HRA per month
• Project Associate-II (others): Rs. 28,000 + 18% HRA per month
• Laboratory Assistant: Rs. 20,000 + 18% HRA per month

Selection Process

Selection is based on a walk-in interview. There is no written exam.

1. Application Screening: The committee shortlists candidates based on essential qualifications and experience.
2. Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for an interview at the IASST Conference Room.
3. Document Verification: You must produce all original documents at the time of the interview.

The committee may not select any candidate if a suitable one is not found. No TA/DA is provided for attending the interview.
