IASST Project Assistant-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, is hiring a Project Assistant-I for its campus at Garchuk, Guwahati (Assam). The post belongs to an ANRF-funded research project that studies Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri samples collected from the major citrus-growing regions of India.

The project team will look at the genome and evolutionary history of these bacterial isolates, work out how they make citrus plants sick, and test ways to control the disease. You would be the hands-on lab support for this work. Selection happens through a walk-in interview, and the job is a contractual project engagement, not a regular government post.

If you are a fresh life-science graduate looking for your first research lab job, this is a good entry point. A master's degree in a related subject gives you an edge, but it is not compulsory.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• No travel support: No TA/DA is paid for coming to the interview.
• Final say: The Competent Authority of IASST takes the final decision on selection.
