About This Job

Apply for 2 Project Research Scientist-III and Technical Support-III posts in AIIMS Guwahati. Salary: Rs 28,000-78,000. Last date: 12 Nov 2026.

AIIMS Guwahati Project Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati is hiring project staff for an ICMR-funded implementation research study on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). The study aims to build an optimal model for SCD screening, diagnosis, treatment and care, and it is run from the Department of Ophthalmology under Principal Investigator Dr Anusuya Bhattacharyya.

Both roles are purely contractual and end with the project. Expect field-heavy work: your base is AIIMS Guwahati at Changsari, Kamrup, but the job can send you to any district of Assam or elsewhere in India as the project needs. The senior post suits researchers with publications and data skills; the support post suits graduates or postgraduates who want hands-on public health field experience.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical): the senior research role for postgraduates in public health, biostatistics, psychology, social work, sociology or life science. Preference goes to people with implementation research or programme evaluation experience, at least two first or corresponding-author papers in SCI journals with an impact factor above 2, and hands-on skill in SPSS, STATA, R, REDCap and health technology assessment modelling.
  • Project Technical Support-III: the field and data support role for graduates in social science, epidemiology, public health, social work, sociology, psychology, psychiatric social work, MLT or life science with experience, or postgraduates in these subjects. Preference goes to candidates with an SCI paper, government project experience, haemoglobinopathy screening experience and working knowledge of MS Office, R, SPSS and website design.

Post-wise Duties

Project Research Scientist-III (Non-Medical)

You will travel widely to project sites, join training programmes and help with SCD patient care and counselling. You will also plan and organise workshops and review meetings and handle other project work assigned by ICMR and the PI.

Project Technical Support-III

You will make frequent field visits to project sites, attend training programmes, workshops and review meetings, and support the day-to-day roll-out of the study as directed by ICMR and the PI.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: Initially up to one year, extendable, but it can end at any time and ends automatically when the project closes.
  • Notice period: Either side can end the engagement with one month's notice without giving a reason.
  • Minimum stay: You must work at least one month, or the pay you drew will be forfeited.
  • No regular claim: Selection gives no right to a regular post at AIIMS Guwahati or to a place in another project.
  • No benefits: There is no Provident Fund, Leave Travel Concession or medical benefit for these temporary posts.
  • ICMR rules: You are governed by ICMR project staff guidelines and sign undertakings before joining.
  • Fitness and court-case declarations: You sign a physical fitness declaration because the work involves frequent travel, including to hard-to-reach areas, plus a declaration that no court case is pending. If selected, you submit a police verification report within three months of joining.
  • Recommendation letters: Without a letter from your last employer or PI and one from your guide, you will not be called for interview. Upload both online and bring the originals; photocopies are not accepted.
  • Serving staff: If you already work in a government institution or research project, apply through proper channel and bring an NOC in original (Annexure II). Without it, you cannot sit the interview.
  • No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

Application Submission Notes

The notice allows online and offline applications, but it also says an application without the hard copy may be rejected, so the safe route is to do both. Fill the Google Form and upload the signed Annexure I with scanned certificates, then send the hard copy with self-attested documents and filled annexures in a sealed envelope to C/O Dr. Anusuya Bhattacharyya (PI), Assistant Professor (Ophthalmology), Security Office, Ground Floor, Medical College Building, AIIMS Guwahati, Changsari, Kamrup, Assam 781101.

  • Write "Application for post ... under project Development of an Optimal Model for Sickle Cell Disease Screening, Diagnosis, Treatment and Care" on the envelope.
  • Make sure the hard copy is entered in the security register with the date and time.
  • Applying for both posts? Send a separate application and hard copy for each.
  • The interview is in person only, with reporting at 8:00 AM in the Department of Ophthalmology.

  • Take part in project training programmes
