Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 - 7 Posts

The Inter University Centre for IPR Studies (IUCIPRS) at CUSAT has released a notification for 7 Assistant Professor posts on a five-year tenure track contract basis. The posts are spread across six specializations, including IPR, Jurisprudence, Commerce/Economics/Political Science, and MSc./M.Tech disciplines, with posts reserved for SC, ST, OBC, PHC, Muslim, ETB, and Dheevara categories. This is a re-notification for most posts — candidates who already applied under the earlier notification dated 21.05.2026 need not apply again, but they can submit updated experience or qualification details. PhD holders with a strong research and teaching background in Intellectual Property Rights are encouraged to apply.

Note: In the absence of eligible candidates in the Muslim category, the next reservation category as per norms will be appointed against that post.

Who Can Apply?

For all posts, you need a Master's Degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an Accredited Foreign University, AND a Ph.D. degree awarded as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016. A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 globally (QS, THE, or ARWU rankings) is also accepted. If you registered for your Ph.D. before 11 July 2009, you are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement, subject to fulfilling specific UGC conditions on thesis evaluation, viva-voce, and publications.

Additional Requirements by Post:

• Jurisprudence post: Graduation in Law, plus one year of teaching or research experience in IPR
• Commerce/Economics/Political Science post: One year of teaching or research experience in IPR
• MSc./M.Tech post: One year of teaching or research experience in IPR, or a Registered Patent Agent qualification

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a starting salary of Rs. 57,700 per month, equivalent to Academic Level 10 of the UGC Pay Matrix, with annual increment.
• The engagement is on a contract basis for a five-year tenure track, starting with an initial one-year period that can be extended based on your performance.
• Weightage is given only for teaching or research experience specifically related to IPR — you must produce proof for this.

• Payment mode: Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of the Director, IUCIPRS, payable at SBI, Cochin University Campus Branch.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Shortlisting based on Academic Record: You are scored out of 100 marks — Graduation and Post-Graduation marks (up to 40), Ph.D./M.Phil (up to 30), NET/JRF/SLET (up to 7), research publications (10), teaching or post-doctoral experience (10), and awards (up to 5).
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview. The number of candidates called for interview is decided by the University.
