CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar has released Advertisement No. PME/P83/2026 dated 06.05.2026 for engagement of 65 project personnel across 55 different projects. The roles include Project Assistant-II, Project Associate-I, Project Associate-II, and Senior Project Associate. Vacancy Breakdown by Position

• Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Around 40 posts across multiple projects (M.Sc Chemistry/Geology/Physics/Material Science or B.E./B.Tech in Chemical/Mechanical/Metallurgical/Mineral Engineering)
• Project Assistant-II (PA-II): Around 5 posts (B.Sc in Chemistry/Computer Science/Physics/Biomechanics)

Note: Positions are spread across 55 project codes (8301 to 8355). Each post code requires a separate application.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Assistant-II (Rs. 20,000/month):

• B.Sc in Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, or Biomechanics from a recognised university

For Project Associate-I (Rs. 25,000-31,000/month):

• M.Sc in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Geology, Physics, Material Science, Polymer Science, or Microbiology with 60% marks
• OR B.E./B.Tech in Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Mineral, or Materials Engineering
• Higher salary (Rs. 31,000) if you qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR-NET, GATE, or other national-level exams

For Project Associate-II (Rs. 28,000-35,000/month):

• M.Sc or B.E./B.Tech with 2 years of relevant R&D experience in industrial/academic institutions

For Senior Project Associate (Rs. 42,000/month):

• M.Sc/M.Tech with 3 years of relevant experience in R&D, OR
• PhD in Chemistry/Physics/Mechanical/Chemical/Metallurgical/Mineral/Geology/Material Science with 2 years of relevant experience

Other Requirements:

• You must be an Indian citizen
• Final year/semester students who are awaiting results are not eligible
• If currently employed, you must furnish a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your present employer

Age Limit

• For most posts: maximum age 35 years as on the last date of application (21.05.2026)
• Senior Project Associate posts: up to 40 years
• One specific post (Code 8311): up to 50 years
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/PwBD/Women, 3 years for OBC, as per Government of India rules

Salary

• Project Assistant-II: Rs. 20,000 per month + HRA @ 20%
• Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Rs. 25,000 per month + HRA @ 20% (Rs. 31,000 + HRA if NET/GATE qualified)
• Project Associate-II (PAT-II): Rs. 28,000 per month + HRA @ 20% (Rs. 35,000 + HRA for some specific projects)
• Senior Project Associate (S-PAT): Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA @ 20%
• Some special posts offer up to Rs. 37,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualified candidates

Selection Process

Selection is based on:

1. Application Screening: Applications received online will be screened by the Competent Authority for shortlisting candidates.
2. Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a walk-in interview at CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar between 02 June 2026 and 05 June 2026. No separate interview call letter will be issued.
3. Document Verification: All original certificates must be produced at the time of interview for verification.

Note: There is no written exam. Mere fulfilment of essential qualification does not guarantee an interview call.

• Conduct research and experiments related to the assigned project (mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, materials synthesis, characterisation, etc.)
• Carry out sample analysis using techniques such as XRD, SEM, and thermal conductivity testing
• Maintain detailed lab records, experimental data, and project progress reports
• Operate and calibrate laboratory instruments and bench-scale reactors safely
• Assist senior scientists in publishing research findings and patent filings
• Prepare materials samples, run characterisation experiments, and analyse the results
• Follow CSIR safety protocols, project timelines, and quality guidelines
• Travel to project sites or partner institutions when required for fieldwork
