CONCOR, a Navratna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has released Vacancy Notice No. 04/2026 dated 9 July 2026 for filling one post of General Manager (C&O)/E-6 or Senior General Manager (C&O)/E-7 on deputation basis. The selected officer will be posted at Bhubaneswar for a tenure of 3 years, extendable by up to 2 years as per Government of India rules. CONCOR runs India's largest network of Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and Container Freight Stations, moving containerised cargo between ports and the hinterland by rail — the Commercial and Operations (C&O) wing is the business engine behind this network, handling customer accounts, freight pricing, terminal operations and rake movement. Only officers from the IRTS cadre are eligible to apply — there is no vacancy for candidates outside government railway service.
This is a senior leadership assignment rather than an entry-level post. Whoever is selected will effectively run the commercial and operational side of a CONCOR area, working closely with Indian Railways, port authorities, freight forwarders and large industrial customers. Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You must be a serving IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic Service) officer.
- For Senior General Manager (C&O)/E-7: SG grade officer with 14 years but less than 17 years of Group 'A' service.
- For General Manager (C&O)/E-6: JAG/SG grade officer with a minimum of 9 years of Group 'A' service.
- Experience: You should have practical experience in marketing, commercial and operational activities — this is the core skill CONCOR is screening for.
- Only one post is being filled; you will be designated Sr. GM or GM depending on which seniority band you fall into.
Age Limit
- Your age should not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications (10 August 2026).
- The cut-off date for both age and eligibility is reckoned as on the closing date of the vacancy notice — so make sure you meet the service-length criteria by that date, not just when you send your application.
Salary
- Senior General Manager (C&O)/E-7: Rs. 1,00,000-3%-2,60,000 per month (IDA scale).
- General Manager (C&O)/E-6: Rs. 90,000-3%-2,40,000 per month (IDA scale).
- As per government directive, you will actually draw the salary of your parent department plus deputation allowance, not the CONCOR IDA scale directly — this is standard for central government deputation postings.
- Allowances and perks will be payable as per your entitlement as an officer on deputation.
Selection Process
A Screening Committee nominated by the Competent Authority will judge your suitability on a 100-point scale:
- Professional Ability: 30 marks
- Experience: 20 marks
- Seniority: 20 marks
- APAR (Annual Performance Appraisal Report): 30 marks
There is no written exam for this post — selection is entirely based on screening of your service record, experience and credentials. The Screening Committee's assessment of your suitability, keeping in view the job requirement, will be final.

Responsibilities
- Oversee commercial and operational activities at the CONCOR terminal/region
- Drive marketing strategy to grow container and cargo business
- Monitor rake planning, terminal throughput and turnaround time

- Review budgets, revenue targets and operational costs
- Guide and mentor the regional team to meet business targets
- Report performance and business updates to senior management
