CSIR-IMMT Technical and Business Development Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), a Bhubaneswar laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is engaging a Technical and Business Development (Scientific and Technical) Consultant. This drive is only for retired government officials who want to put their environmental science experience to work again on a short-term contract. Selection happens through a walk-in interview at the institute, under post code C01.

The work centres on the environmental side of mining and mineral processing: impact assessment, mine water, climate change, carbon footprint, ESG reporting, fly ash use and ecological restoration. You would also guide the institute's labs through ISO certification and NABL accreditation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who can apply: You must have retired from Central Government, State Government, an autonomous body or a PSU, from a senior pay level listed in the eligibility details, and you must have served in a scientific or technical area.
• Tenure: The first engagement is for six months and may be extended by another six months based on performance and need.
• Fixed amount: Your monthly amount is worked out from your last pay and pension and stays the same for the whole contract. If you commuted part of your pension, that commuted part is also counted in the deduction.
• Working hours: Normal office timing is 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. You may have to work late or on weekends and holidays when needed, with no extra pay.
• Attendance: You report to the Director or HoD and must mark attendance; missing it can lead to a pay deduction.
• Confidentiality: You are bound by the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and cannot share or publish project data without CSIR's written consent. CVC rules on consultants also apply.
• Number of posts: The single position is provisional and may change at the time of selection.
