Chandigarh Administration Executive Engineer (Horticulture) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The Office of the Chief Engineer, Engineering Department, Union Territory, Chandigarh has issued a vacancy circular to fill up 1 post of Executive Engineer (Horticulture) in the B&R Wing on deputation (including short-term contract) basis. The initial period is one year, extendable up to three years. The eligibility criteria follow the notified Recruitment Rules dated 18.04.1984. No written exam — selection is based on document scrutiny and ACR grading.

Essential Qualification (any one)
- M.Sc Degree in Agriculture with specialisation in Horticulture, OR
- M.Sc Degree in Horticulture (including Floriculture - Olericulture), OR
- M.Sc Degree in Botany from a recognised University or equivalent, OR
- B.Sc (Agriculture) or B.Sc (Botany) with Post Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture or Horticulture from a recognised University
Essential Experience
- 7 years' experience in Horticulture including ornamental ranging over various fields of horticulture
Desirable
- Doctorate Degree in one relevant subject from a recognised University or equivalent
Note: Officers under Central/State Government holding analogous posts or posts in the rank of Assistant Landscaping Officer/Sub Divisional Engineer (Horticulture) or equivalent with 8 years service in the grade and possessing the prescribed qualifications are also eligible.
Age Limit
- The crucial date for determining eligibility is 26 April 2026 (excluding the first date of publication in Employment News)
- Period of deputation, including deputation in another ex-cadre post immediately preceding the appointment, shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years
Salary
- Pay Scale (Pre-revised): Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 + Grade Pay Rs. 7,600
- Now Level-11 of 7th CPC (Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700)
- Plus DA, HRA, deputation allowance and other allowances as per Central Government rules

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
- Application Scrutiny: The Engineering Department reviews applications against notified Recruitment Rules
- Document Verification: ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years, vigilance clearance, integrity certificate and cadre clearance are verified
- Selection by Borrowing Department: Final selection is made by the Engineering Department, UT Chandigarh based on suitability and ACR grading

Responsibilities
- Plan, design and supervise horticulture, landscaping and ornamental gardening works in UT Chandigarh
- Manage gardens, parks, roundabouts, road dividers and green belts maintained by the Engineering Department
- Prepare estimates, technical sanctions and tender documents for horticulture works
- Monitor floriculture, olericulture, plant nurseries and seasonal planting cycles
- Supervise junior horticulture staff, gardeners and seasonal workers
- Coordinate with civil engineering teams for integrated landscaping in public infrastructure projects
- Maintain plant health records, pesticide use logs and ensure compliance with environmental norms
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
M.Sc Degree in Agriculture (Horticulture specialisation) / M.Sc Horticulture / M.Sc Botany; OR B.Sc (Agriculture/Botany) with PG Diploma in Landscape Architecture or Horticulture from a recognised University
Preferred Qualification
Doctorate (PhD) Degree in one relevant subject from a recognised University
Required Skills
