The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) wants to fill 1 post of Deputy Director General at its Regional Office in Chandigarh, on a deputation (foreign service) basis. This post is open only to serving Central Government, State/UT Government, PSU, bank, LIC, or Autonomous Organisation officers — private candidates cannot apply. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Deputy Director General Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

UIDAI, the body that issues Aadhaar numbers under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016, has invited applications on deputation basis for the post of Deputy Director General at its Regional Office in Chandigarh. UIDAI runs several regional offices across the country to manage Aadhaar enrolment, updates, and authentication for residents, and each regional office needs experienced officers to head its administration and project work. Only officers already serving in the Central Government, a State/UT Government, a PSU, a bank, LIC, or an autonomous organisation can apply — this is not open recruitment for the general public. The deputation period is for 5 years, though the lending organisation can call the officer back earlier subject to a minimum of 3 years. Eligible officers with the required cadre clearance are encouraged to apply through the proper channel before the deadline.

Who Can Apply?

Route 1: Central Government Officers

• You should be holding an analogous post on a regular basis in your parent cadre/department
• OR you should have completed 4 years of regular service in Pay Matrix Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100 – 2,15,900) or above

Route 2: State/UT Government, PSU, Bank, LIC, or Autonomous Organisation Officers

• You should be holding a regular post in the corresponding/equivalent grade, with the requisite experience
• PSU officers (Level 14 equivalent): E-8 grade, Rs. 1,20,000 – 2,80,000 (revised)
• Bank officers (Level 14 equivalent): General Manager/Scale-VII, Rs. 1,56,500 – 1,73,860 (revised)
• LIC officers (Level 14 equivalent): Rs. 1,30,500 – 1,63,700 and above scale

You need at least 5 years of total government service to apply, plus a minimum residual service of 3 years as on the closing date. Since this post is filled on deputation basis, private/non-government candidates are not eligible to apply, and once you apply you cannot withdraw your candidature later. Officers holding an analogous post in UIDAI itself may be preferred, and your application will only be forwarded if your cadre controlling authority can spare your services — applications from officers whose services cannot be spared will not be forwarded.

Desirable (Preferred) Experience

• Experience in monitoring and implementing large-scale, multi-partner projects
• Experience in Administration, Legal, Establishment, HR, Finance, Accounts, Budgeting, Vigilance, Procurement, or Planning
• Experience in e-Governance and ICT-related projects

Age Limit

• You should be below 56 years of age as on 7 September 2026 (the closing date for applications).
• You need a minimum residual service of 3 years as on the closing date to be considered.

Salary

• The post carries Pay Matrix Level 14 of the 7th Central Pay Commission — Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month.
• Your salary, allowances, and joining time will be governed by the UIDAI (Salary, Allowances and other Terms and Conditions of Service of Employees) Regulations, 2020.
• Your leave will be regulated as per the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.
• If you come from an organisation with a dissimilar pay structure, only your pay will be protected (not other perquisites), as per DoPT norms.
• Officers at Director level and above get a vehicle facility for commuting, and you can continue availing CGHS medical benefits or opt for UIDAI's Medical Reimbursement Scheme.
• This is a non-technical post, so Technical Allowance does not apply.

3. Ask your forwarding officer to complete Annex II, including your cadre clearance.
4. Attach attested copies of your ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years, attested by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary.

• Ensure compliance with UIDAI regulations and the Aadhaar Act
• Represent the Regional Office in coordination with state governments and other stakeholders
• Report to senior UIDAI leadership on regional operations and project progress
