Chandigarh SPMU Accountant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Director, Social Welfare, Women & Child Development (ICDS), Chandigarh Administration has released a public notice for 1 Accountant post under the State Programme Management Unit (SPMU) of Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0. Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 is the central scheme that modernises Anganwadi Centres and strengthens nutrition, health and early childhood education services. The Chandigarh Social Welfare Department runs a large network of over 450 Anganwadi Centres across the city, and the SPMU is the dedicated unit that helps the administration plan, monitor and finance this scheme. There is no written exam for this post — selection is based on shortlisting and an interview, which makes it a quick opportunity for commerce graduates and retired government accountants in Chandigarh.

Who Can Apply?

  • Both fresh commerce postgraduates with relevant experience and retired government finance officials are welcome to apply — the department wants someone who can independently manage scheme accounts from day one.

Salary

  • The selected candidate will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 30,000 per month.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain day-to-day accounts and financial records of the SPMU
  • Prepare budget estimates and expenditure statements for Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 schemes
  • Process bills, vouchers and payments as per government financial rules
  • Reconcile bank accounts and maintain cash books
  • Assist in internal and statutory audits of the unit
  • Prepare utilization certificates and financial reports for funding agencies
  • Coordinate with the Social Welfare Department on financial compliance matters
