Chandigarh SPMU Accountant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Director, Social Welfare, Women & Child Development (ICDS), Chandigarh Administration has released a public notice for 1 Accountant post under the State Programme Management Unit (SPMU) of Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0. Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 is the central scheme that modernises Anganwadi Centres and strengthens nutrition, health and early childhood education services. The Chandigarh Social Welfare Department runs a large network of over 450 Anganwadi Centres across the city, and the SPMU is the dedicated unit that helps the administration plan, monitor and finance this scheme. There is no written exam for this post — selection is based on shortlisting and an interview, which makes it a quick opportunity for commerce graduates and retired government accountants in Chandigarh.

This is a good option if you want to work close to home in a government office rather than commute for a private job. Since the post is purely on a contract basis under a centrally-sponsored scheme, it is best suited to candidates who want short-term, meaningful government work experience in public finance and welfare administration.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: PG Degree in Commerce/Accounting, or CA (Inter)/CWA (Inter), with at least 3 years of accounting experience.
• OR you can apply if you are a retired Government Accountant (with 5 years of experience) or a retired Accounts Officer/Audit Officer (minimum 3 years of experience).
• Both fresh commerce postgraduates with relevant experience and retired government finance officials are welcome to apply — the department wants someone who can independently manage scheme accounts from day one.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 42 years old as on 31 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: As per Chandigarh Administration rules for reserved categories.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 30,000 per month.
• This is a contract engagement under the Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0 scheme, so the pay is fixed and consolidated rather than a pay-scale with increments.
