Panjab University (PU) Architectural Assistant Deputation Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Panjab University, Chandigarh has issued Vacancy Circular No. 7583/Estt dated 24 July 2026 to fill 1 Architectural Assistant post in its Architect Office purely on deputation basis. This is not a fresh government job opening — it is meant for officers already working in a Central/State Government department, Union Territory, PSU, University, or Autonomous Body who want a change of posting to Panjab University. As Architectural Assistant, you would assist the University Architect with campus construction planning, building design review, and infrastructure development projects. Internal PU employees who meet the eligibility criteria can also apply through proper channel.

Deputation Tenure: The initial deputation period is 1 year, which may be extended based on performance, but your total tenure at Panjab University cannot exceed 5 years. If you have already served on deputation elsewhere before this, your combined deputation period (including this posting) cannot exceed 3 years.

Who Can Apply?

• Eligibility: You must be a confirmed employee of the Central Government, State Government, UTs, PSUs, Universities, or Autonomous Bodies.
• Experience: You need at least 2 years of regular service on an analogous post, or in an identical pay scale of a similar cadre — that is, Level-16 (6th PPC) — in your parent department.
• Not eligible: Departmental officers who are in the direct line of promotion cannot apply for this deputation post, and a deputationist cannot be absorbed permanently into Panjab University.
• If you are already on deputation elsewhere, your application must be forwarded by your parent department only, along with Cadre Clearance, Vigilance Clearance, and an Integrity Certificate.
• If your department does not follow Punjab pay scales, you must submit a comparative equivalence chart certified by your employer.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation is 55 years as on the closing date of receipt of application, i.e. 10 August 2026.

Salary

• The post carries a pay scale of Level-16 (6th PPC), subject to further revision by the University from time to time.
• You will draw pay either in your parent cadre grade plus deputation (duty) allowance, or in the pay-scale/grade pay of this deputation post, whichever you opt for. If you choose the deputation post's pay scale, notional increments will keep accruing in your parent cadre post too, so your pay on repatriation is protected.
• Other benefits such as T.A., Leave, Provident Fund, Leave Salary, Gratuity, and Pension Contribution will be as per Panjab University rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. Panjab University will screen applications based on your eligibility, experience, and the recommendation of your Cadre Controlling Authority.

Your application must reach PU by 10 August 2026 (Monday) before 4:00 PM. Incomplete applications, or those not in the prescribed proforma, or received after the last date will be rejected. If you expect a postal delay in sending your application through proper channel, you can send an advance copy directly before the deadline — but your candidature will only be considered once the application reaches PU through the proper channel.
