Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) Research Associate Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is the premier state agricultural university of Andhra Pradesh, running research stations and colleges across the state. Its Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Lam, Guntur, is filling one purely temporary Research Associate post for a period of 11 months against a vacant sanctioned Scientist (Soil Science) post. This position is funded under the NSP (National Seed Project) Cotton Biotechnology programme and is focused on BT cotton variety and hybrid development work. There is no written exam for this recruitment — the university will select candidates purely on the basis of a walk-in interview. This role suits candidates who already have hands-on molecular biology experience and want to work closely on live field research at a government agricultural station, contributing directly to cotton breeding work that benefits farmers across the region.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: You need a Ph.D. in Genetics & Plant Breeding or Agricultural Biotechnology. Alternatively, a Master's degree in the same subjects along with a 4 or 5-year Bachelor's degree in First Division (or equivalent overall grade point average) also qualifies, provided you meet the experience requirement below.
- Experience: If applying with a Master's degree, you must have at least 3 years of teaching or research experience, evidenced through a Fellowship, Associateship, Training programme, or similar engagement.

- Basic Sciences Route: If you hold a Postgraduate degree in Basic Sciences (with a 3-year Bachelor's and 2-year Master's), you must also have a valid NET qualification.
- University Requirement: All your degrees must be completed at ICAR-accredited universities or colleges — this applies to your Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. degrees alike.
- Desirable Skills: ANGRAU prefers candidates who can independently handle a large volume of Bt cotton samples (more than 30,000 samples), have solid knowledge of molecular biology work, and are skilled in ELISA and PCR testing, along with recording and analysing lab and field data using relevant software. Prior hands-on experience in a plant breeding or biotechnology lab will be a strong advantage during the interview.

- No TA/DA is given for attending the interview, and this contractual role carries no claim to a regular appointment in the university or any government organisation.
- The engagement can be terminated at any time without prior notice, and if you wish to leave the job, you need to give one month's notice or pay one month's salary in lieu.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
ANGRAU will select the Research Associate directly through a walk-in interview:
- Document Verification: Bring your original certificates along with a duplicate photocopy set at the time of the interview.
- Walk-in Interview: The selection committee will review your qualifications, research publications, and relevant experience, and assess your knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
