Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh has invited applications for 2 Guest Faculty positions in the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology. Panjab University is one of India's oldest public universities and is well known for its heritage and archaeology programmes. The Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology offers postgraduate teaching and research in Indian art, architecture, epigraphy and material culture, and regularly engages qualified scholars as Guest Faculty to support its M.A. programme. You will teach specialized subjects for the M.A. AIHC&A programme, including Numismatics, Paleography and Epigraphy, Indian Architecture, and Sculpture and Iconography. No written exam is required — candidates are selected purely on the basis of their qualifications and an interview. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Master's Degree with 55% marks in Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology.

• Subjects to Teach: Numismatics, Paleography and Epigraphy, Indian Architecture, Sculpture and Iconography.
• You should have a Teaching Eligibility Certificate and, if available, teaching or research experience (including publications) to strengthen your application.

These are core specialization areas within Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology. Numismatics is the study of coins and currency history; Paleography and Epigraphy deals with reading ancient scripts and inscriptions; Indian Architecture covers historic building traditions and monuments; and Sculpture and Iconography studies ancient art forms and religious imagery. If your postgraduate specialization matches one or more of these areas, you are a strong fit for this role.

Salary

• You will get a token honorarium of Rs. 1,500 per lecture.
• Your total monthly honorarium is capped at Rs. 50,000 per month as per Panjab University rules.
• You cannot draw any other fellowship, stipend, or financial assistance from any agency while teaching as Guest Faculty in this department.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on your qualifications and an interview:

1. Document Verification: Bring your original certificates and other relevant documents for verification.
2. Interview: Conducted by the Department of AIHC&A to assess your suitability for the subjects to be taught.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
