The Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, has invited applications for the post of Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur. CAU Imphal was established in 1993 by an Act of Parliament and is a premier fully residential university covering seven North-Eastern Hill states — Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura. The university operates 13 constituent colleges and 6 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). Distinguished academic leaders with a track record in agricultural research and administration can apply.
Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You must have a Ph.D degree in any branch of agriculture or allied sciences.
Experience
- You should be an eminent scientist or teacher with at least 10 years of experience as a Professor or equivalent, including at least 3 years of experience in research, teaching or extension management.
- You should have evidence of contributions to Teaching, Research or Extension as supported by publications, innovations and demonstrated leadership.
Skills and Competencies Expected

Age Limit
- The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a term of five years from the date of joining, or until attaining the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
- The selected candidate is also eligible for reappointment for a further term of five years or until attaining 70 years, whichever is earlier.
- No minimum age is specified in the notification.
Salary
- The present pay for the post is Rs. 2,10,000 per month (fixed).
- You will also get other allowances as per Government of India rules.
- Pay is governed by Ministry of Education / UGC Regulation (O.M. No. 1-7/2015-U.II(1) dated 2 November 2017, revised time to time) and the Central Agricultural University Act, 1992.
Selection Process (No Written Exam)
Selection will be done by a committee constituted with the approval of the President of India in his/her capacity of Visitor of CAU, Imphal:
- Screening of Applications: The Selection Committee will scrutinise all applications received.
- Evaluation: The committee will evaluate candidates based on academic credentials, research contributions and leadership experience.
- Recommendation: Shortlisted names will be recommended to the Honourable President of India (Visitor of CAU, Imphal) through the Honourable Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister.
- Final Appointment: Made under the provisions of the CAU Act, 1992.

Responsibilities
- Act as the principal executive and academic officer of the Central Agricultural University, Imphal
- Exercise general supervision and control over the affairs of the University
- Give effect to decisions of all authorities of the University
- Lead 13 constituent colleges and 6 Krishi Vigyan Kendras across seven North-Eastern states
- Drive agricultural research, teaching and extension in agriculture, veterinary sciences, fisheries, horticulture, forestry, agricultural engineering, community science and food technology
- Maintain partnerships with national and international institutions and state development departments
- Ensure food and nutritional security initiatives for the North-Eastern region
- Represent the University before the Ministry, Visitor and other government authorities

Eminent scientist or teacher with strong publications, international exposure and leadership at national/international research organisations
