ACTREC Scientific Officer E (Cancer Biology) Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) is the R&D wing of Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), an autonomous Grant-in-Aid institute under the Department of Atomic Energy and affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). ACTREC is looking for 2 independent faculty members at the Scientific Officer 'E' level to lead research in cancer biology. This is an independent faculty role — selected candidates get their own lab space and startup funds to run independent research. Both posts are in the Unreserved (UR) category.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a PhD, or an MD with PhD.
• Experience: You should have 4 years of post-PhD experience, or 1 year post-MD with PhD, with research experience in the relevant area and supported by excellent publications.
• Research focus: The role is in cancer biology. Candidates working on cellular and animal models reflecting Indian patients, cancer mechanobiology, protein biochemistry, cellular therapies for cancer, or in vivo tumor imaging are encouraged to apply.
• Indian citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) card holders, and foreign nationals who meet the conditions can apply.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 45 years as on 19 June 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST get 5 years, OBC get 3 years, PWD get 10 years, and Ex-servicemen as per Government of India rules.
• TMC employees (regular, temporary, project, or contract) get age relaxation of up to 5 years.
• Since both posts are Unreserved, age relaxation does not apply to reserved-category candidates for these posts.

Salary

• Starting pay: Rs. 78,800 per month (Level-12, Cell-1 of the 7th Pay Matrix).
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per TMC rules.
• Other benefits include medical facility, residential accommodation (subject to availability), retirement benefits, and pension as per government rules.
• Officers are eligible for institutional financial support to attend national and international medical meetings, workshops, and conferences after probation.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on your research profile and an interview:

1. Application Screening: Apply online with your CV, publications, three reference letters, and a research proposal (maximum three pages) in the area of cancer biology.
2. Open Presentation: Eligible candidates will be invited to make an open presentation.
3. Final Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a final interview and meeting with faculty members.

ACTREC reserves the right to fix a minimum eligibility benchmark and restrict the number of candidates called for interview.
