The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) is the comprehensive cancer research arm of Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), an autonomous Grant-in-Aid institute under the Department of Atomic Energy and affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). ACTREC has released notification ADVT-A03/2026 for 11 Assistant Professor 'E' posts across nine specialties including Radiodiagnosis, Pathology, Head & Neck Oncology, Anesthesiology, Interventional Radiology, Medical Oncology, Critical Care, and Preventive Oncology. Selection is purely by interview — there is no written exam. The government encourages women candidates to apply.

Who Can Apply?

Radiodiagnosis

  • MD/DNB (Radiology/Radio-diagnosis) + 3 years post-MD/DNB experience in a teaching hospital.

Pathology

  • DM (Oncopathology/Haematopathology) or MD/DNB (Pathology) + 3 years post-MD/DNB experience in a teaching hospital.

Head & Neck Oncology

  • MCh/DNB (Head & Neck Oncology) — no experience required; or MCh/DNB (Surgical Oncology) — 1 year experience; or MS/DNB (General Surgery/ENT) — 3 years experience in Surgical/Head & Neck Oncology.

Palliative Medicine

  • MD/DNB (Palliative Medicine or Anesthesiology) + 3 years post-MD/DNB experience in a high-volume hospital or cancer centre. A PG diploma or certified training in palliative medicine is desirable.

Anesthesiology

  • MD/DNB (Anesthesia) + 3 years post-MD/DNB experience in a teaching hospital. Critical care and pain management experience is desirable.

Interventional Radiology

  • DM (Interventional Radiology) — no experience required; or MD/DNB (Radiodiagnosis) + 3 years experience in Interventional Radiology.

Medical Oncology (Adult Haematolymphoid)

  • DM/DNB (Medical Oncology / Clinical Haematology).

Intensivist (Critical Care)

  • DM (Critical Care) — no experience required; or MD/DNB (Anesthesia/General Medicine/Pulmonary Medicine/Pediatrics) + 3 years post-MD/DNB experience in Critical Care.

Preventive Oncology

  • MD/DNB (Preventive & Social Medicine) + 3 years experience in Preventive Oncology / Preventive & Social Medicine / Community Medicine. Preference for those with Preventive Oncology experience.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 45 years as on 19 June 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST get 5 years, OBC get 3 years, PWD get 10 years, and Ex-servicemen as per Government of India rules.
  • TMC employees (regular, temporary, project, or contract) get age relaxation of up to 5 years.
  • Since all posts are Unreserved, age relaxation does not apply to reserved-category candidates for these posts.

Salary

  • Starting pay: Rs. 78,800 per month (Level-12, Cell-1; pre-revised PB-3 Rs. 15,600-39,100 + GP Rs. 7,600).
  • You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per TMC rules.
  • Other benefits include medical facility, residential accommodation (subject to availability), retirement benefits, and pension as per government rules.
  • Officers are eligible for institutional financial support to attend national and international medical meetings and conferences after probation.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based purely on interview:

  1. Application Screening: Candidates are screened on the basis of qualifications and experience shown in the online form.
  2. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must carry original documents with one set of photocopies.
  3. Interview: Final selection is through interview.

The final academic designation (Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor) is given after joining as per NMC norms. Merely meeting the qualification does not guarantee an interview call.

Responsibilities

  • Teach postgraduate and super-specialty medical students in the assigned specialty
  • Provide expert clinical care to cancer patients at ACTREC and TMC units
  • Guide research projects and mentor junior doctors and trainees
  • Prepare teaching material, conduct seminars, and supervise clinical work
  • Publish research papers in reputed medical journals
  • Participate in academic committees and departmental activities
  • Work across TMC units by rotation as and when required

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

MD / DNB / DM / MCh in the relevant specialty, recognized by NMC, with teaching-hospital experience as specified per post

Preferred Qualification

PG diploma or certified training in the relevant subspecialty; critical care and pain management experience (where applicable)

Required Skills

Clinical expertise in the relevant oncology specialty, teaching ability, research and publications
