NIT Calicut is hiring 1 Project Associate I for a research project in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. If you have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent field) with at least 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA, you can apply through email before 27 July 2026. The Office of Research and Consultancy at NIT Calicut has released a notice for 1 Project Associate I position to work on an ANRF-funded (Anusandhan National Research Foundation) project titled "Dynamics of an impact-induced rotating jet from a liquid container: breaking the jet-velocity barrier" in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This is a one-year contract position, which may be extended based on your performance and the availability of project funds. Fresh mechanical engineering graduates and postgraduates interested in fluid dynamics and experimental research are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification: Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 6.0 CGPA / 60% marks, OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with 6.0 CGPA / 60% marks
  • Preferred: Experience in projects related to interfacial phenomena, high-speed imaging, and image analysis

Age Limit

  • You should be up to 28 years old to apply for this position.
  • Relaxation: The Institute may relax the age limit for candidates with exceptional credentials.

Salary

  • If you qualify through CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE, you will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 37,000 plus a 20% additional allowance.
  • If you do not hold a NET/GATE qualification, you will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 30,000 plus a 20% additional allowance.
  • This is a fixed consolidated pay for contract research staff — there is no separate DA/HRA structure.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

NIT Calicut will select candidates through the following steps:

  1. Shortlisting: Your CV and academic documents will be reviewed after you email your application.
  2. Offline Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email and called for an in-person interview at NIT Calicut on 30 July 2026.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
