Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has released a notification for 1 Part Time Students' Counsellor post at its College of Agriculture in Ambalavayal, Wayanad. The counsellor will support students facing academic stress, exam pressure, personal or family issues, and other mental health concerns. Candidates who also hold an MSW will get added weightage, and the university has said preference will be given to women candidates since most students at the college are female. The appointment is purely on a contract basis for one year from the date of joining, or until the post is filled through regular recruitment — whichever happens earlier. This appointment does not give you any preference for a future regular job at KAU.

You will need to be available for 4 days a week from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, or 3 days a week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, depending on the college's requirement. This particular round of selection also follows Kerala's reservation norms, with this vacancy earmarked in rotation for the Ezhava/Thiyya/Backward (E/T/B) category, to be considered for other categories only if suitable E/T/B candidates are not available.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Sc or M.A in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Applied Psychology.
• Added Weightage: Candidates who also hold an MSW (Master of Social Work) will be considered more favourably.
• You must submit your application along with mark lists and certificates for every qualification you are claiming.

Age Limit

• You should not be above 60 years of age on the date of appointment.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get a consolidated pay of Rs. 30,000 per month (Rupees thirty thousand only).
• This amount is subject to revision as per university orders issued from time to time, and income tax will be deducted as applicable.
• You will need to sign an agreement on a Rs. 200 stamp paper once selected.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Application Screening: You must email your filled application with supporting documents to dean.coaamb@kau.in before the deadline.
2. Walk-in Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on 14 July 2026 starting 9:30 AM. Candidates reporting after 11:00 AM will not be allowed to appear.
3. Document Verification: You must bring all original certificates and self-attested copies to the interview for verification.

The final rank list is prepared based on your walk-in interview performance and published on the university and college websites. If you resign or are removed before your term is done, you must give (or receive) one month's notice, or pay/receive one month's salary in lieu of notice.
