IIT Tirupati Research Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) is recruiting a Research Associate for a time-bound National Quantum Mission project in its Department of Physics. The Department of Science and Technology supports the work under the project Towards Quantum Advantage: Design and Development of Algorithms, Codes and Protocols. This is a focused research role for someone who wants to connect mathematical ideas in quantum chaos with practical quantum-computing experiments and collaborative academic research.
The project studies how quantum circuits can generate useful random states with efficient use of computational resources. Its theoretical work brings together quantum many-body physics, random matrix methods and quantum information, while its computational side uses exact diagonalisation and tensor-network techniques. The researcher will test whether the generated states behave like suitable quantum designs, examine their spectral and entanglement properties, and help take validated methods towards implementation on quantum hardware.
A notable feature is the project’s multi-institutional collaboration. IIT Tirupati will work with Prof. Arul Lakshminarayan of IIT Madras, and the appointee may get opportunities to work with partner teams at IIT Madras, IIIT Hyderabad and IIT Ropar. That wider network can be valuable if your interests span theoretical modelling, simulation and hardware-oriented validation rather than a single narrow technique.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial tenure: The appointment begins for one year and may be extended in line with the project period and satisfactory work.
- Project-linked role: The position exists for a time-bound sponsored project and does not create a claim to a regular IIT Tirupati appointment.
- Performance condition: IIT Tirupati may discontinue the appointment with one month’s notice if performance is not satisfactory.
- Interview travel: The institute will not pay TA or DA for attending an online or in-person interview.
- Communication: Shortlisted applicants will receive interview information by email, so the email address entered in the form should remain active.
- Qualification flexibility: The institute states that it may relax the essential academic requirement for an outstanding applicant.
Application Submission Notes
The official Google form asks for a detailed academic CV and a brief statement explaining why the project topic interests you. Your statement should connect your research background with the project’s quantum-chaos, simulation or quantum-information work instead of repeating your CV.
Questions about the position can be sent to csrc_recruitment@iittp.ac.in. Keep your scanned academic records ready for upload and check that every file opens correctly before completing the form.
