Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has released a notification (Ad.F1/Notification of Contract Teachers/2012, Part-I dated 02 July 2026) inviting applications for Assistant Professor posts on Tenure Basis against anticipated vacancies in 13 divisions at the School of Engineering, Cochin University College of Engineering Kuttanad (CUCEK), and the Applied Science and Humanities department. The initial appointment is for a five-year tenure, with annual evaluations and a comprehensive review in the third year — continuation depends on satisfactory performance. Both freshers with a first Master's degree and experienced Ph.D holders can apply, since the pay itself differs based on whether you hold a Ph.D. If you complete your tenure, you can reapply through a fresh notification and will be considered on par with other candidates.

Who Can Apply?

For Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Information Technology:

• You need a B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. (or Integrated M.Tech) with First Class in a relevant branch. For Computer Science and Information Technology, specific combinations like B.Tech (CS) + M.Tech (IT) are also accepted.

For Safety and Fire Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Safety):

• You need a B.Tech/B.E. in the respective engineering branch (or equivalent) and M.Tech/M.E. in the same branch or Industrial Safety, with First Class in either degree.
• Desirable: A Government-approved Diploma in Industrial Safety and two years of industry, research, or teaching experience in Safety and Fire Engineering.

For Applied Science & Humanities (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science):

• You need a Master's Degree with 55% marks in the relevant or allied subject from a recognised university.
• You must have cleared NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D degree awarded as per UGC (Minimum Standards for Ph.D) Regulations, 2009/2016 — qualifying Ph.D holders are exempt from NET/SLET/SET.

For Master of Computer Application (MCA):

• You need B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. (or Integrated M.Tech) with First Class, OR B.E./B.Tech. and MCA with First Class in either degree, OR a 3-year graduation with Mathematics plus MCA with First Class and 2 years of relevant experience.

Salary

• You will get a monthly remuneration of Rs. 47,000 if you hold a Ph.D degree, or Rs. 45,000 if you do not, effective from 01 July 2026.
• After five years of continuous service, you become eligible for gratuity as per the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972.
• This is a fixed monthly pay for tenure-track contract teachers, not part of the standard 7th CPC pay matrix.

Selection Process

Your selection will go through these steps:

1. Screening of Applications: Your online application and hard-copy documents will be checked against the eligibility criteria for your chosen division.
2. Interview by Selection Committee: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, and a rank list will be prepared based on the Selection Committee's recommendation.
3. Rank List: The published rank list stays valid for two years and CUSAT will make appointments from it as vacancies arise.
