CSL Officer (Skill Development) Recruitment 2026: Overview

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Miniratna shipbuilding company under the Government of India, is hiring Officer (Skill Development) staff on a five-year contract. The notice (Ref. No. CSL/P&A/RECTT/CONTRACT/Officer_SD/2026/14, dated 14 September 2026) is aimed at people who have spent their careers in the vocational training system — Government ITIs and Regional Instruction Centres.

If you have served as an Inspector of Training, Principal, Vice Principal, Training Officer or Trade Test Officer and hold a mechanical engineering diploma, this role lets you put that experience to work at one of India's biggest shipyards. Experience with apprenticeship training matters and knowing how to work on computers is a plus, so retired or serving ITI officials are a natural fit. Only Indian nationals can apply.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract tenure: The contract runs for five years. These are purely contract posts, and CSL is not bound to offer a job during or after the contract.
• Pay rises: The consolidated monthly pay goes up each year after the first year.
• Experience after qualification: Only experience gained after you earned your diploma counts, worked out as on 1 October 2026.
• Equivalent qualifications: A diploma from a State Board of Technical Education or an equivalent is accepted, but you must upload an Equivalency Certificate for any equivalent qualification.
• Reservation: Both posts are listed as unreserved (UR). Government of India rules apply, and PwBD reservation follows central guidelines — you need at least 40% disability backed by a valid certificate.
• Current employees: If you are still working somewhere and lack an experience certificate, upload your appointment or offer letter and latest pay slip. CSL will not take on any salary, gratuity or pension liability from your earlier job.
• Medical fitness: Shortlisted candidates must pass a medical check at a hospital named by CSL.
• Rank list: Interview ties are broken in favour of the older candidate. The rank list stays valid for up to 18 months and can fill future vacancies.
• No travel allowance: You will not get TA/DA for attending the interview.
• Smartphone policy: You must sign an undertaking to follow CSL's rules on smartphone use at work.
• Legal disputes: Cases about this recruitment can be filed only in courts at Ernakulam.

Application Submission Notes

You apply only through CSL's SAP online portal, linked from the Career page (CSL, Kochi) on cochinshipyard.in. Go through the User Manual and FAQ there, complete the one-time registration, and then apply for the post. Only one application is allowed and it cannot be changed after submission.
