CSL Production and Commissioning Recruitment 2026: Overview

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Government of India Miniratna shipbuilding company, is recruiting Production and Commissioning Engineers and Assistants for contract work in Kochi. The drive is meant only for former Indian Navy and former Indian Coast Guard personnel with substantial hands-on experience in marine equipment and systems. All five role groups use the same online application window, which CSL has now extended.

The appointments are for project-linked work for a maximum of five years, subject to operational needs and your performance. This is temporary engagement rather than permanent employment, and your work may take you across ships under construction or repair, docks, shops and commissioning areas.

Posts and Disciplines

• Production and Commissioning Engineer, Mechanical: diploma-level engineering work involving the operation and maintenance of marine mechanical equipment and systems.
• Production and Commissioning Engineer, Electrical: diploma-level work on marine electrical equipment, installation support, testing and commissioning.
• Production and Commissioning Assistant, Mechanical: Class 10-level support work for mechanical production, maintenance and commissioning activity.
• Production and Commissioning Assistant, Electrical: practical support for marine electrical equipment and systems in active shipyard areas.
• Production and Commissioning Assistant, Electronics, Instrumentation and Controls: support work involving marine electronic equipment, instruments and control systems.

Post-wise Duties

Production and Commissioning Engineers

You will use your service experience to support operation, maintenance, inspection and commissioning in the relevant mechanical or electrical discipline. Your records must clearly show the nature of the marine duties you handled after earning the required qualification.

Production and Commissioning Assistants

You will help shipyard teams with equipment checks, maintenance activity, trials and commissioning support in your notified discipline. The role calls for safe movement through ships, docks and workshop areas while keeping technical work and equipment status properly recorded.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Service background: Only former Indian Navy and former Indian Coast Guard personnel can apply. Personnel already working in these Production and Commissioning roles on CSL's rolls when the notice was issued are excluded.
• Experience evidence: You need the relevant discharge record, pension payment order and certificates that explain your post-qualification marine work. An equivalent qualification needs the competent authority's certificate or the required endorsement in your service record.
• Work environment: The job can involve vertical ladders, narrow passages, manholes, confined spaces and work at height. CSL says the posts are not identified as suitable for persons with benchmark disabilities because of the safety risks in this environment.
• Contract: Engagement can continue for up to five years, but it depends on project requirements and individual performance. The notification does not create a right to permanent appointment.
• Posting and selection: The assessment is conducted at CSL Kochi. Shortlisting can be based on the certificates uploaded with your application, and originals must support every claim.
• Communication: CSL will publish recruitment updates on its career page and may contact shortlisted applicants by email. Call letters are not sent by post.
