Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a Government of India Miniratna Schedule A shipbuilding company, issued Vacancy Notification Ref. No. CSL/P&A/RECTT/CONTRACT/CE&CA/2021/18 dated 13 August 2026. Production & Commissioning Engineer

• Mechanical: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
• Electrical: Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience: At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in operation and maintenance of the corresponding marine equipment and systems.

Production & Commissioning Assistant

• Education: Class 10 for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics/Instrumentation and Controls roles.
• Experience: At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in operation and maintenance of the corresponding marine equipment and systems.
• Equivalency: If your service record treats a qualification as equivalent, provide the competent authority's equivalency certificate or the required endorsement in your discharge record.

Experience is counted only after the required qualification and is measured on 4 September 2026. Personnel already working on CSL's rolls as Production & Commissioning Engineers or Assistants on the notification date cannot apply. Your certificates should clearly explain the work, duties, and responsibilities you handled.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 58 years as on 4 September 2026.
• Date-of-birth condition: You should have been born on or after 5 September 1968.

Salary

• Production & Commissioning Engineer: Rs. 69,300 consolidated pay per month in the 1st year.
• Production & Commissioning Assistant: Rs. 66,800 consolidated pay per month in the 1st year.
• Later years: An annual increase applies in subsequent contract years, but the notice does not state the exact revised amounts.
• Contract length: Up to 5 years, subject to project requirements and individual performance.

Physical and Work Requirements

The roles involve frequent movement through active shipyard work areas. You may need to visit shops, docks, ships under construction or repair, and other work sites regularly.

• Climb vertical ladders up and down as part of inspection, production, or commissioning work.
• Move through narrow passages, manholes, confined spaces, and work-at-height locations.
• Meet the practical mobility and safety needs of marine equipment operation and maintenance.
• The notification says these posts are not identified as suitable for PwBD applicants because of the high safety risk to the individual and others in this work environment.

• General, OBC, EWS, and other non-exempt applicants: Rs. 300 plus applicable bank charges.
• SC and ST applicants: No application fee.

Selection Process

CSL will conduct a 100-mark selection process at Kochi. The notification does not give a stage-wise test pattern in the available section, so do not assume a written examination or interview format.

1. Application scrutiny: CSL may shortlist applicants by checking whether the certificates uploaded online establish every qualification and experience condition.
2. Certificate verification: Shortlisted applicants must show all original certificates with self-attested copies before they can enter the selection process.
3. 100-mark assessment: CSL will assess permitted applicants at Kochi and prepare the rank list from the marks secured.
4. Tie-break: When two applicants receive the same marks, the older applicant gets the higher relative merit position.

Uploading a record is not enough unless the original supports it. A missing discharge record, qualification proof, experience certificate, or equivalency document can stop you from being shortlisted.

Keep your Discharge Certificate or Book, Pension Payment Order, qualification records, experience certificates, equivalency proof where needed, age proof, caste certificate, photograph, and application copy ready. Government, semi-government, and PSU employees must follow their employer's outside-employment rules and produce a relieving order if selected.
