About This Job

Apply for 1 Motor Transport Supervisor post in UPSC. Central Govt officers with 7 years' transport experience. Apply offline by 26 Sep 2026.

UPSC Motor Transport Supervisor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is filling the Motor Transport Supervisor role in its New Delhi office through deputation or absorption. The opening is meant for serving Central Government officers who already understand official vehicle operations and can take responsibility for the Commission's Staff Car Unit. This is a working supervisory post rather than a desk-only transport role: you will coordinate drivers, vehicles, fuel, workshops and urgent travel requirements for the Chairman, Members, senior officers, examinations, conferences and general duty.

The post needs someone who can balance planning with hands-on vehicle knowledge. You may have to inspect a vehicle, review its logbook, arrange a replacement at short notice, check a repair through a test drive, or respond when a staff car is involved in a mishap. Clear instructions and dependable records are central to the job, because the unit supports both day-to-day administration and time-sensitive Commission work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Eligible cadre: this route is limited to officers under the Central Government who meet the regular-service and transport-experience conditions in the circular.
  • Appointment route: UPSC may fill the role through deputation or absorption. Departmental candidates from the Commission's Staff Car Driver cadre cannot be considered under either route.
  • Initial tenure: the appointment is initially for three years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
  • Deputation ceiling: an immediately preceding ex-cadre deputation is counted when the ordinary three-year ceiling is worked out.
  • Pay regulation: pay and related conditions will follow the applicable Department of Personnel and Training order and its amendments.
  • Availability: the forwarding department should certify that your services can be spared immediately if UPSC selects you.
  • Withdrawal: the circular does not allow an applicant to withdraw candidature after applying.
  • Equal opportunity: UPSC has encouraged women officers to apply in support of a gender-balanced government workforce.

Application Submission Notes

Apply in duplicate using the prescribed form and route it through your department. Your forwarding authority must complete its certificate and authenticate the service record; applications sent without the required departmental backing will not be taken up.

The completed dossier should be addressed to Ms. Aparna Srivastava, Under Secretary (Admn.II), Room No. 11, Ground Floor, Annexe Building, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069. Keep enough transit time for the department to review and forward it, because the notice measures receipt at UPSC rather than the date on which you hand the form to your office.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy drivers and vehicles for the Chairman, Members, senior officers and Commission staff
  • Arrange transport for examinations, advisers, workshops, conferences, dispatch and general duty
  • Inspect vehicles and guide drivers on cleanliness and minor maintenance
  • Review driver logbooks and keep vehicle-use records accurate
  • Coordinate fuel refilling, servicing, maintenance and repair with authorised vendors
  • Conduct test drives after reported faults and confirm the quality of repairs
  • Handle staff-car mishaps promptly and keep the controlling officer informed
  • Guide drivers on traffic rules, advisories and safe vehicle operation
