About This Job

Apply for 1 Assistant Director (Vigilance) post in UPSC on deputation. Central Govt officers eligible. Pay: Rs 56,100-1,77,500. Apply via proper channel.

UPSC Assistant Director Vigilance Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) wants an Assistant Director (Vigilance) to run the Vigilance Section in its own office at Dholpur House, New Delhi. This is a General Central Service, Group 'A', Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post, and it is being filled only on deputation, so you must already be a serving Central Government officer. Fresh graduates and private-sector candidates cannot apply.

The job is a good fit if you have spent years handling administrative vigilance cases and the court cases that follow them. As section in-charge, you will split work among the staff, watch the flow of dak and drafts, approve the recording and weeding of files, and step in whenever a case has a vigilance angle. The role also links UPSC with the CBI and police in criminal matters, and you may be asked to attend court and brief government counsel on cases involving the Commission.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Deputation only: The post is open only to officers under the Central Government who hold an analogous post on a regular basis or have the required regular service in the feeder grades.
  • Vigilance training is mandatory: You must have completed the administrative vigilance training of the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), or a comparable course from a government institution recognised as equivalent.
  • Tenure: The deputation is for three years or until further orders, whichever comes first. Any ex-cadre deputation you held immediately before this one counts towards the same three-year ceiling.
  • Pay on deputation: Your pay is fixed under the DoP&T O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay-II) dated 17 June 2010, as amended from time to time.
  • No withdrawal: Once you apply, you will not be allowed to withdraw your candidature.
  • Pre-2006 service: Regular service rendered before 1 January 2006 is counted in the corresponding Sixth CPC grade pay, except where several old scales were merged into one grade.
  • Gender balance: UPSC says it wants a workforce that reflects gender balance, and women officers are encouraged to apply.

Application Submission Notes

There is no online form. Fill the bio-data proforma (Annexure-I) in duplicate, get the Annexure-II certificate signed by your employer or forwarding authority, and route the whole set through proper channel. • Examine cases put up by staff against the rule position and suggest workable solutions for the competent authority

  • Approve final drafts, priority markings, security classification and mode of dispatch before issue
