Who Can Apply?
Scientist-B (Mechanical)
Master's degree in Physics + 1 year of practical experience in testing or calibration of engineering materials, OR BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering + 2 years of similar experience.
Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive)
Master's in Physics OR Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy, with 1 year of experience in a Non-Destructive testing lab or X-Ray Diffraction work.
Superintending Archaeological Engineer
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 8 years of experience in planning, execution, and supervision of civil engineering works in the Government Sector or at Archaeological/Heritage Sites.
Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering (Survey)
BE/B.Tech in Civil Engineering AND ME/M.Tech in Civil Engineering (Geo Informatics/Surveying Technology), with first class or equivalent (60% aggregate) in either qualification.
Age Limit
- Scientist-B (Mechanical): Maximum 35 years for UR
- Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive): Maximum 33 years for OBC
- Superintending Archaeological Engineer: Maximum 40 years for UR, 50 years for PwBD
- Assistant Professor: Maximum 38 years for OBC
- Standard SC/ST/OBC/PwBD age relaxations apply as per UPSC rules

Salary
- Scientist-B (Mechanical): Level 10 Pay Matrix — Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
- Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive): Level 8 Pay Matrix — Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100 per month
- Superintending Archaeological Engineer: Level 11 Pay Matrix — Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month
- Assistant Professor: Academic Level 10 Pay Matrix — Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month
- Plus DA, HRA, TA and other central government allowances

Responsibilities
- Supervise mechanical testing, calibration, and metrology work at the National Test House and sign final test certificates
- Handle non-destructive testing of materials including X-Ray Diffraction and metallographic methods at NTH laboratories
- Plan, execute, and supervise civil engineering and conservation work at archaeological and heritage sites under ASI
- Teach Civil Engineering (Survey) to students at the College of Military Engineering Pune and guide developmental projects
- Scrutinize test requests, allocate samples to Scientific Officers and Assistants, and review draft reports before signing
- Assist Senior Scientists in technical, purchase, and administrative matters
- Maintain documentation, training records, and follow lab and field safety standards
- Follow Group A / B central service rules and All India Service Liability terms
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's or Master's degree as per post — BE/B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil/Metallurgy), Master's in Physics, or ME/M.Tech in Civil (Geoinformatics/Survey)
Preferred Qualification
Research and development experience in testing of engineering materials, metrology, NDT, or heritage civil engineering
Required Skills
