SGPGIMS Medical Physicist Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow has released detailed notice for 1 Medical Physicist post in the Radiotherapy and Radiodiagnosis specialty. The recruitment refers to Advt. No. I/54/Rectt./2025-26 dated 7 March 2026 and Corrigendum I/05/Rectt./2026-27 dated 7 May 2026. The corrigendum adds one important condition: you must have AERB approval to function as Radiological Safety Officer.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification Option 1

• PG Degree: You need a postgraduate degree in Physics from a recognised university.
• Post M.Sc. Diploma: You also need a Post M.Sc. Diploma in Radiological Physics or Medical Physics from a recognised university.
• Internship: You must have completed a minimum 12-month internship in a recognised, well-equipped radiation therapy department.
• AERB Approval: You must have approval from AERB to function as Radiological Safety Officer.

Qualification Option 2

• Basic Degree: You need a basic science degree from a recognised university with Physics as one of the main subjects.
• PG Degree: You need a postgraduate degree in Radiological Physics or Medical Physics from a recognised university.
• Internship and AERB: You still need the 12-month internship and AERB RSO approval.

Age Limit

• You should be at least 18 years old as on 1 January 2026.
• Maximum age is 40 years as on 1 January 2026.
• SC/ST/OBC and other UP categories: Upper age relaxation will be as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules.
• Permanent UP Government employees: Relaxation up to 5 years may apply if they have at least 3 years of regular continuous service in the relevant field.
• Ex-Servicemen: Armed forces service can be deducted from actual age as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules, subject to the notified condition.

Salary

• Pay Level: Level-10 as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix
• Pay Range: Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per SGPGIMS and Uttar Pradesh Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection will be done through a written test in order of merit, followed by required checks before appointment.

1. Application Scrutiny: SGPGIMS will check whether the form, qualification, internship, AERB approval, fee and documents are complete.
2. Written Test: Selection will be based on a written test in order of merit. The notification does not mention question count, marks, time limit or negative marking.
3. Document Verification: Original certificates may be checked before final selection.
4. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must undergo a medical examination as per Institute rules.
