About This Job

State Bank of India (SBI) is hiring 35 Bank Medical Officers (BMO-II) on a regular (permanent) basis in the Middle Management Grade Scale-II. If you are an MBBS doctor registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council and have a few years of practice experience, you can apply online. The basic pay starts from Rs. 64,820 per month and you also get a Non-Practicing Allowance of 20% plus DA, HRA and other benefits. The last date to apply is 14 July 2026.

State Bank of India (SBI) has released Advertisement No. CRPD/SCO/2026-27/03 to fill 35 Bank Medical Officer (BMO-II) posts across 14 Circles and Offices in India. This is a Specialist Cadre Officer recruitment on a regular basis, so you get a full-time permanent bank officer job in the medical wing. You can apply for the vacancy of only one Circle or Office, and you will be posted in that Circle if you are selected. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification (as on 31 May 2026)

  • Mandatory: MBBS from a recognised university or college approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council.
  • Preferred: Post Graduate Diploma or a Post Graduate Degree (MD/MS) or its equivalent.

Work Experience (as on 31 May 2026)

  • If you have only an MBBS degree, you need at least 5 years of experience as a General Practitioner (counted from the date of registration with NMC or a State Medical Council).
  • If you have a post graduate degree, you need at least 3 years of experience as a General Practitioner.
  • Experience gained during internship and any teaching or training experience will not be counted.

Language

  • You must be able to read, write and understand the local language of the Circle you apply for. A Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) will be held before joining. If you studied the local language in 10th or 12th, you are exempt from this test.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years (as on 31 May 2026). There is no minimum age set for this post.
  • Age Relaxation: OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) - 3 years, SC/ST - 5 years, Ex-Servicemen - 5 years.
  • PwBD Relaxation: UR/EWS - 10 years, OBC - 13 years, SC/ST - 15 years.

Salary

  • You will be placed in Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II) with a basic pay scale of Rs. 64,820 - 93,960 per month.
  • You also get a Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) of 20% of basic pay.
  • Extra benefits include DA, HRA, CCA, Provident Fund, Contributory Pension (NPS), Leave Fare Concession (LFC) and medical facility as per bank rules.
  • Higher starting pay: one extra increment for a PG Diploma and two extra increments for an MD/MS or equivalent.
  • Note: BMOs are not allowed to do private practice.

  • SC / ST / PwBD: No fee.

Selection Process

Selection is done in the following stages:

  1. Online Written Test: An objective test with a General Aptitude section (Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English - qualifying only) and a Professional Knowledge section of 50 questions for 100 marks. There is negative marking for wrong answers. The test is tentatively planned for August 2026.
  2. Interview: Carries 100 marks. Candidates are shortlisted category-wise based on the written test.
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): Held for provisionally selected candidates before joining.
  4. Document Verification and Medical Examination

Weightage: Final merit is based on Written Test (70%) and Interview (30%).

Responsibilities

  • Attend to the health needs of Bank officers, their dependents and pensioners at the Bank's dispensary.
  • Arrange admissions for the Bank's patients at empanelled hospitals and refer employees to hospitals or diagnostic centres as needed.
  • Set up tie-ups with hospitals and diagnostic centres and carry out their periodic visits and review.
  • Prepare the medical budget, keep adequate stock of medicines and ensure their proper use.
  • Scrutinise medical and hospitalisation bills of employees and pensioners.
  • Conduct medical examination of new recruits and promotees and submit reports to the concerned offices.
  • Organise wellness camps and health talks and carry out preventive healthcare measures for employees.
  • Oversee the administration of the medical department and maintain digital medical records.

Exam Pattern

The Online Written Test has two parts and carries a total of 150 marks. You get 45 minutes for each part.

Part 1 - General Aptitude (Qualifying Only)

  • Quantitative Aptitude: 15 questions (15 marks)
  • English Language: 20 questions (20 marks)

Time for Part 1: 45 minutes. These marks are qualifying only and are not counted for the final merit.

Part 2 - Professional Knowledge

  • Professional Knowledge (Medical): 50 questions (100 marks)

Time for Part 2: 45 minutes. Only these marks count towards your merit.

Negative Marking: Marks are deducted for each wrong answer.

Exam Type: Objective (MCQ), online.
