The recruitment covers 20 Assistant Manager (Law) posts in JMGS-I and 29 Deputy Manager (Law) posts in MMGS-II, including 2 backlog ST posts for Deputy Manager. Who Can Apply?

Assistant Manager (Law)

  • Qualification: You need a graduate degree in Law or be a Law Graduate from a recognised university in India.
  • Experience: You need 2 years as a practicing advocate, Law Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank, or combined eligible experience after Bar Council enrolment.
  • Preferred: A 5-year integrated law course may be given preference.

Deputy Manager (Law)

  • Qualification: You need a graduate degree in Law or be a Law Graduate from a recognised university in India.
  • Experience: You need 4 years as a practicing advocate, Law Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank, or combined eligible experience after Bar Council enrolment.
  • Preferred: A 5-year integrated law course may be given preference.

Age Limit

  • Assistant Manager (Law): 25 to 32 years as on 31 May 2026.
  • Deputy Manager (Law): 25 to 35 years as on 31 May 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwBD 10 to 15 years depending on category, and eligible Ex-Servicemen 5 years.

Salary

  • Assistant Manager (Law): Basic pay scale Rs. 48,480-85,920 under JMGS-I.
  • Deputy Manager (Law): Basic pay scale Rs. 64,820-93,960 under MMGS-II.
  • You will also get DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC, medical facility and other benefits as per SBI rules.

Selection Process

The selection has two main stages with final weightage of written test and interview.

  1. Online Written Test: Tentatively in August 2026. Objective test has Reasoning 25 questions, English 35 questions and Professional Knowledge 50 questions. There is also a descriptive test of 5 questions for 50 marks.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will attend an interview of 100 marks.
  3. Final Merit: Online written test carries 70% weightage and interview carries 30% weightage. There is no negative marking in the online written examination.

  • Assist senior officers in legal risk review and compliance-related matters

Graduate degree in Law or Law Graduate from a recognised university in India with Bar Council enrolment and relevant legal experience

5-year integrated law course from a recognised university may be given preference

The SBI Law Officer online test has objective and descriptive papers. The online test is expected in August 2026.

  • Reasoning: 25 questions for 25 marks, qualifying in nature
  • English Language: 35 questions for 35 marks, qualifying in nature
  • Professional Knowledge: 50 questions for 50 marks
  • Descriptive Test: Answer any 5 out of 8 questions for 50 marks in 45 minutes
  • Negative Marking: No negative marks for wrong answers

Final merit uses 70% written test and 30% interview weightage.
