About This Job

PFRDA is hiring an Ombudsman on a contract basis at its New Delhi head office. If you are a retired District Judge (or qualified to be one), or have at least 10 years of experience in a regulatory body or in law, finance, corporate matters, economics, management or administration, you can apply. The salary is Rs. 2,16,000 per month. You must be at least 45 years old. The last date to apply is 10 June 2026. Applications are accepted by post only.

Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) Ombudsman Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) is a statutory body set up under the PFRDA Act, 2013 to develop and regulate India's pension sector. As of 31 March 2026, nearly 9 crore subscribers are registered under schemes regulated by PFRDA. It now wants to appoint an Ombudsman on contract to receive, examine and resolve subscriber grievances under the PFRDA (Redressal of Subscriber Grievance) Regulations, 2015. This is a senior contract role with no written exam — selection is by interview.

Who Can Apply?

Basic Requirements

  • You must be a citizen of India.
  • You must be a person of high moral integrity.
  • You must not be less than 45 years of age.

Qualification and Experience (any one)

  • You are a retired District Judge, or are qualified to be appointed as a District Judge; OR
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in performing regulatory functions in any regulatory body; OR
  • You have special knowledge of law, finance, corporate matters, economics, management or administration and at least 10 years of experience in these fields.

Who Cannot Apply

  • An undischarged insolvent
  • A person convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude
  • A person declared of unsound mind by a competent court
  • A person charge-sheeted for any offence, including economic offences
  • A person who served as a whole-time director of an intermediary under NPS or any other PFRDA-regulated scheme, where less than 3 years have passed since leaving that post

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 45 years
  • You cannot continue as Ombudsman after reaching 70 years of age.
  • Work experience is counted as on 31 March 2026.

Salary

  • You will get a fixed consolidated payment of Rs. 2,16,000 per month.
  • You are expected to work at least 3 days a week. If the number of cases increases, you may need to work more days without extra pay.
  • No other separate fee or allowance is paid over and above this amount.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done in the following way:

  1. Application Scrutiny: A Selection Committee reviews eligible applications and may prepare a panel of suitable candidates.
  2. Interview / Personal Interaction: Final selection is based on personal interaction or interview.

Merely applying or meeting the eligibility does not give any right to be called for an interview. The appointment is purely on a contract basis.

Responsibilities

  • Receive complaints from NPS subscribers against intermediaries and entities under PFRDA regulations
  • Examine each grievance carefully under the PFRDA (Redressal of Subscriber Grievance) Regulations, 2015
  • Help settle disputes between parties through amicable and friendly agreement
  • Approve fair and friendly settlements reached between the parties
  • Decide (adjudicate) complaints where an amicable settlement is not reached
  • Exercise jurisdiction over a specified area as directed by the Authority
  • Maintain high standards of integrity and fairness in all grievance proceedings

Minimum Qualification

Retired District Judge (or qualified to be appointed as District Judge); OR 10 years experience in regulatory functions; OR special knowledge of law/finance/corporate matters/economics/management/administration with 10 years experience
