PFRDA Legal Adviser Recruitment 2026

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) is hiring one Legal Adviser on a contract basis at its New Delhi office. This role is meant for retired senior government officers who hold a law degree and have at least 25 years of experience in service, disciplinary and pension matters. You will get a fixed salary of Rs. 3,00,000 per month, and the engagement is for an initial period of two years. PFRDA Legal Adviser Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) is a statutory body set up under the PFRDA Act, 2013 to promote, develop and regulate the National Pension System (NPS) and other pension schemes. Through Advertisement No. 02/2026, PFRDA wants to engage one Legal Adviser to advise the Authority on administrative, service, disciplinary and pension-related matters under NPS and UPS. The Legal Adviser will report to the Chairperson or the Whole-Time Member concerned and will work from the PFRDA office in New Delhi. This is a purely contractual engagement for retired officers and does not give any right to permanent employment with PFRDA.

Who Can Apply?

This post is only for retired senior government officers. You need to meet every condition given below.

Educational Qualification

• You must have a Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university.

Experience

• At least 25 years of experience in Central Government, State Government, statutory bodies, regulatory authorities or similar organisations.
• You must have retired from the post of Additional Secretary to the Government of India (or an equivalent or higher post).
• Solid experience in handling disciplinary, vigilance, administrative and service matters, including minor and major penalty proceedings.
• Experience of dealing with pension issues and cases before courts and tribunals such as the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

Other Conditions

• You must be a citizen of India and a person of ability, integrity and standing.
• You should not have been convicted of any offence involving moral turpitude, fraud or economic offences.
• You should not have been debarred or penalised by any regulator, court or other authority.

Age Limit

• You must have retired from service and be below 65 years of age.
• Your age will be counted as on 30 June 2026.
• There is no separate minimum age — since this post is only for retired officers.

Salary

• You will get a fixed, consolidated payment of Rs. 3,00,000 per month.
• No other benefits or allowances will be added on top of this amount.
• If you are sent on out-of-station duty, you will get TA/DA equal to the entitlement of an Executive Director of PFRDA.
• The engagement runs for an initial period of two years and may be extended based on your performance.

Application Fee

• PFRDA has not mentioned any application fee in this notification, so you do not need to pay to apply.

Selection Process

The selection is done only through an interview — there is no written exam.

1. Shortlisting: PFRDA will shortlist candidates based on the experience and details you give in your application. Just meeting the minimum eligibility does not guarantee an interview call.
2. Document Verification: Your original certificates for age, qualification and experience will be checked before the interview.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. If you travel from another city, PFRDA will reimburse your economy class air fare (both ways) on submission of proof.

• Advise PFRDA on administrative, establishment and service matters of its officers and staff

• Examine vigilance complaints, conflict-of-interest issues and conduct-related matters
• Draft and vet charge memos, show-cause notices, speaking orders and appellate orders
• Advise on pension-linked issues under NPS and UPS arising from service records and disciplinary cases
• Support PFRDA in service and pension cases before courts and tribunals, including the CAT
• Strengthen internal procedures and guide officers dealing with legal, pension and establishment work
