The CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru — a national laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research — has released Advertisement No. PAT 33/2026 to fill 2 Project Associate-I positions. These posts are for a research project titled 'To Develop Unani Aahar-Energy Dense Nutritional Supplements (EDNS)'. This is a purely temporary contract engagement, initially for one year and extendable up to three years based on the project. Who Can Apply?

Position 1 - Product Development (Post Code GAP678-01):

  • Qualification: M.Sc in Food Science and Technology or Nutrition from a recognised university.
  • Preferred: Experience in product development and food analysis techniques.

Position 2 - Cell Line and Animal Research (Post Code GAP678-02):

  • Qualification: M.Sc in Biochemistry or Biotechnology from a recognised university.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience in cell line and animal experiments, and molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemistry.

Only candidates who have already completed the qualifying degree with declared results can apply. Those awaiting results or appearing in the final semester are not eligible. Candidates who have already worked as CSIR project staff for a total of 6 years cannot apply.

Age Limit

  • You should not be more than 35 years old as on 7 July 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC, ST, PwBD and Women candidates, and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Salary

  • If you have qualified a National Eligibility Test (CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, etc.), you will get Rs. 31,000 per month plus HRA.
  • Other selected candidates will get Rs. 25,000 per month plus HRA.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection is done in two steps:

  1. Shortlisting: A committee shortlists candidates based on marks in the essential qualification, higher qualifications, or desirable experience.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an in-person interview at CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru. No TA/DA is paid for attending.

The list of shortlisted candidates and interview dates is posted on the CFTRI website and sent by email.

Responsibilities

  • Develop energy-dense nutritional supplement products under the research project
  • Carry out food analysis using standard laboratory techniques
  • Conduct research using cell line and animal models for the biochemistry post
  • Perform molecular biology work such as PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemistry
  • Record and analyse experimental data accurately
  • Prepare research reports and support the principal investigator
  • Follow laboratory safety and quality guidelines
