Raman Research Institute (RRI), a premier basic-sciences research institute funded by the Government of India's Department of Science and Technology, has released Advertisement No. 18/2026 for 22 regular posts. These are permanent posts filled through direct recruitment, with a probation of 2 years. The roles support the Institute's research work, including areas like radio astronomy and X-ray optics. Freshers can apply for most posts, while Engineer C posts need some experience.

Who Can Apply?

Engineer C (Pay Level 11)

• M.Sc or an Engineering degree in Electronics with First Class plus 3 years of relevant experience, OR an M.Tech in Electronics with First Class.

Engineer B (Pay Level 10)

• M.Sc or an Engineering degree with First Class in Electronics, Mechanical, or Instrumentation (as per the discipline you apply for).

Engineering Assistant C (Pay Level 5)

• A Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch — Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science/IT, Civil or Electrical.

Tradesman A (Pay Level 2)

• An ITI in the relevant trade — Electrical, Air Conditioning, Mechanical, or Fitter/Turner/Machinist.

You must be an Indian citizen. The desirable experience listed for each post improves your chances but is not compulsory, except for Engineer C.

Age Limit

• Engineer B and Engineer C: up to 35 years as on the last date of application.
• Engineering Assistant C and Tradesman A: up to 28 years as on the last date of application.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates get age relaxation for posts reserved for their category, as per government rules.

Salary

• Engineer C: Pay Level 11 — entry pay Rs. 67,700 per month
• Engineer B: Pay Level 10 — entry pay Rs. 56,100 per month
• Engineering Assistant C: Pay Level 5 — entry pay Rs. 29,200 per month
• Tradesman A: Pay Level 2 — entry pay Rs. 19,900 per month
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules. Employees are covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 250 per post
• SC / ST / Women / Divyaang (PwBD): No fee
• Payment mode: Online through the RRI recruitment portal. If you apply for more than one post, submit a separate application and fee for each post.

Selection Process

The selection method depends on the post level:

1. Engineer B and Engineer C (Level 10 and above): Objective test, Subjective test and Interview.
2. Engineering Assistant C and Tradesman A: Objective test, Subjective test and Skill test.

Call letters for the test are sent only by email, so check your registered inbox regularly. Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee a call for the test.

How to Apply

1. Go to the RRI recruitment portal at rri.res.in.
2. Register and fill the online application form. Enter your name exactly as on your matriculation certificate.
3. Upload your mark sheets and certificates (Class 10 onwards), category certificate and experience proof — applications without these attachments are rejected.
4. Government / PSU / Autonomous Body employees should upload an NOC (or a signed undertaking to submit it later).
5. Pay the application fee online (if applicable) and submit. Apply separately for each post you want.
6. Take a printout of your submitted application for your records.

• Design, build and maintain electronic, mechanical and instrumentation systems used in research experiments
• Support radio astronomy, X-ray optics and other laboratory projects with technical work
• Operate, test and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and precision instruments
• Assemble and integrate hardware such as antennas, telescope structures and control systems
• Handle installation, calibration and repair of tools, machines, and IT/network systems
• Keep records of equipment, experiments and maintenance activities
• Follow safety rules and support scientists and engineers in day-to-day research work
