Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory (DEBEL), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is taking in Junior Research Fellows in Mechanical Engineering for defence-related research at its Bengaluru laboratory under the Ministry of Defence. The fellowship is meant for early-career engineers who want to work in a laboratory environment where engineering is applied to equipment, systems and technologies used by defence personnel. This is a research fellowship rather than a regular DRDO appointment, so it is best suited to candidates interested in building research experience.

DEBEL has kept both a graduate route linked to a valid GATE score and a postgraduate route for candidates with strong academic records. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fellowship tenure: The initial award runs for two years. It may be upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship for the third year and extended for a fourth year, depending on performance.
• No regular appointment: The fellowship does not create a right to absorption in DRDO after the research term ends.
• Doctoral registration: A selected fellow may be allowed to register for a PhD with a recognised university or institution under the rules in force.
• Vacancy position: The laboratory may change the final intake according to its organisational needs and may decide not to select anyone if no suitable applicant is available.
• Government employees: Applicants working in government departments, public sector units or autonomous bodies must route the application through the proper channel and produce a no-objection certificate.
• Interview visit: DEBEL will not pay TA or DA for attending in person or for joining. The interview may continue to the next day, so you should make your own stay arrangements if needed.
• Campus security: Entry is through the ADE Raman Gate with a valid government photo ID and recent photographs. Phones, laptops, pen drives, CDs and other electronic items are not allowed inside.
• Conduct: Canvassing can disqualify your application, and antecedents will be checked again before joining.
