CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, has released Advertisement No. PAT 35/2026 to engage one Project Associate-I on a purely temporary, contractual basis. The role is for a research project (project number GAP000679) titled "Dynamics of Sparse Intruders in Vibro-fluidized Granular Beds: Implications for Fortified Rice Kernel Mixing (SIGMA-FRK)". This is a project-linked position, initially running up to March 2027. CFTRI is a constituent national laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and one of India's leading food-technology research institutes. If you are an engineering graduate who enjoys experiments, simulations, and research, this is a good chance to work at a top national lab.

Please note that this is a purely temporary, contractual engagement. It is co-terminus with the project and does not give any right or claim to a permanent post at CSIR-CFTRI or CSIR. The total time a person can work as CSIR project staff across all CSIR labs is capped at 6 years — if you have already completed 6 years as CSIR project staff, you are not eligible for this post. The engagement may be extended or curtailed based on funds, your performance, and the needs of the project, but it will never go beyond the project's tenure.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering or Technology.
• Result status: You must have already completed your degree with declared results. Candidates who are result-awaited, in their final semester, or still appearing are not eligible.
• Desirable experience: Work with granular flows, Discrete Element Methods (DEM), and open-source simulation tools like LAMMPS and LIGGGHTS, plus post-processing tools.
• Computer skills: Comfort with running experiments, computer simulations, and data analysis.
• CSIR project staff limit: You should not have already completed 6 years as project staff in any CSIR lab or institute.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 50 years old as on 15 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC / ST / PwBD / Women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.

Salary

• You will get Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA if you qualified through CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship), GATE, or a national-level exam by a Central Government department or its agencies.
• You will get Rs. 30,000 per month plus HRA if you do not fall in the above group.
• These rates are as per the funding agency (ANRF) norms.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this post. The selection is done in these steps:

1. Shortlisting: A committee shortlists candidates as per the current requirement. If a large number of applications come in, the committee may shortlist based on the percentage of marks in the essential qualification, higher educational qualifications, or desirable qualification and experience. The shortlist is displayed on the CFTRI website.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview and informed by email. You must bring your original documents. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.

The final result is prepared based on your interview performance and posted on the CFTRI website. Keep checking the official website for any addendum or corrigendum.
