New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, has released Vacancy Notification No. 3/1/2026/CERS-7 dated 15 July 2026 to fill 1 Unreserved (UR) post of Senior Deputy Traffic Manager (Class-I) in the Traffic Department, on a regular basis, through Direct Recruitment. This is a senior executive-level position in the IDA pay scale of Rs. 80,000-2,20,000, best suited to experienced professionals from the shipping, cargo handling or railway transportation sector. NMPA is a fully solar-powered, ISO-certified major port located at Panambur, near Mangalore, Karnataka.

Employees of Major Port Authorities of India who hold the prescribed qualification and experience can also apply for this post, with a relaxed upper age limit of up to 55 years instead of the usual 42 years. Candidates already working in Central Government, State Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies or Statutory Bodies must apply through their proper channel and will need to submit a No Objection Certificate at the time of document verification.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A degree from a recognized university.
• Experience: At least 12 years of experience in shipping/cargo operations or railway transportation in an executive cadre, in an Industrial, Commercial or Government undertaking.
• Nationality: You must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, or a Person of Indian Origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
• Employees of Major Port Authorities with the prescribed qualification and experience can also apply, subject to a relaxed age limit of up to 55 years.
• Ex-servicemen claiming equivalent qualification/experience must produce a Discharge Certificate along with proof of the relevant work experience gained during service.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 42 years as on 1 July 2026 — the crucial date, being the first day of the month in which this vacancy was notified.
• Age Relaxation: Employees of Major Port Authorities of India can apply up to 55 years. Age relaxation for PwBD and Ex-servicemen candidates is applicable as per Government of India guidelines.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary in the range of Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 2,20,000 per month under the IDA pay scale.
• You will also get Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), HRA/accommodation, Cafeteria Allowance at 35% of Basic Pay, encashment of earned leave and other benefits as per NMPA rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection for this post is based on your qualifications and experience, not a written exam:

1. Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on the educational qualification and experience mentioned in the notification. NMPA reserves the right to fix qualifying cut-offs and limit the number of candidates for the next stage.
2. Document Verification: Original certificates of shortlisted candidates are checked at this stage, along with the No Objection Certificate for government/PSU employees.
3. Interview: NMPA may also call shortlisted candidates for an interview at any stage of the selection process.

Appointment of candidates currently serving in Government, Quasi-Government offices, Autonomous Bodies, PSUs (including nationalized banks) or Major Ports is subject to obtaining vigilance clearance from their organization.
