JNCASR Research Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), a deemed university under the Department of Science and Technology, is hiring one Research Associate for its CPMU and ICMS Unit at the Jakkur campus in Bengaluru. You will work under the guidance of Prof. Bivas Saha, and the position is a temporary research engagement, not a regular faculty or staff post.

The notice is clear about the kind of researcher it wants: someone strong in first-principles density-functional theory (DFT). That means hands-on experience with electronic-structure analysis, phonon and magnetization calculations, and advanced workflows such as EPW. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of the post: The position is temporary; it is tied to the research group and does not lead to a regular appointment.
• Pay fixed by experience: JNCASR places you at one of three fixed pay levels depending on your experience, with house rent allowance on top.
• Second route to eligibility: If you do not hold a PhD, you can still qualify with three years of research, teaching or design and development work after an M.Tech, M.E., M.Pharm or MVSc, provided you have at least one paper in a Science Citation Index (SCI) journal.
• No Objection Certificate: If you are currently employed or still pursuing a PhD, you must send an NOC from your employer or PhD supervisor.
• Interview: Only shortlisted candidates are called, and the interview may be held online. No TA/DA is paid if you attend in person.
