About This Job

Apply for 58 Project Scientific Officer, Assistant and Admin posts in IPR. BE/Diploma/BSc eligible. Salary: Rs 25,870-72,930. Last date: 16 Nov 2026.

IPR Project Staff Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), an aided institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, is hiring Project Scientific Officers, Project Scientific Assistants and Project Administrative Staff under Advertisement No. 08/2026. IPR works on basic plasma physics, magnetic confinement fusion and industrial uses of plasma, and you will be placed at its main campus in Bhat, Gandhinagar or its laboratories at GIDC Sector 25, Gandhinagar.

These are temporary project posts, not permanent DAE jobs. They suit fresh engineers, diploma holders and graduates who want hands-on experience at a national fusion and plasma research lab. The drive is mostly for technical staff — the diploma-level Project Scientific Assistant post alone covers six branches.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Project Scientific Officer (PSO): engineering-graduate posts in Mechanical, Computer Science and Instrumentation & Control.
  • Project Scientific Assistant (PSA): technical posts in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics/Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation & Control and Computer for three-year diploma holders, plus a Physics branch for B.Sc. Physics graduates.
  • Project Administrative Staff (PAS): office posts for graduates from any stream who also hold a certified computer course; all these openings are unreserved.

The branch-wise and category-wise openings are listed in the vacancy table. IPR says the numbers are provisional and may go up or down depending on its actual needs.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: every post is purely temporary and ends automatically after a maximum of three years. You get no claim to a regular or permanent job at IPR during or after the project.
  • Yearly review: your performance is reviewed at the end of each year, and IPR can end the engagement if it is not satisfactory.
  • Over-qualification rule: for the PSO and PSA posts, candidates holding a higher qualification than the one prescribed are treated as over-qualified and will not be screened in. So a B.E. holder should not apply for a diploma-level PSA post.
  • Three-year diploma only: only a three-year diploma is accepted for the PSA engineering branches.
  • Recognised institutions: degrees must come from UGC-recognised universities or AICTE-approved institutes; foreign qualifications need a UGC/AIU equivalence certificate.
  • Medical cover: you are covered under IPR's Contributory Health Service Scheme (CHSS) for yourself only, with a monthly deduction from your pay.
  • Wait list: a merit-wise wait list stays valid for one year after the final result, and IPR may use it to fill posts that fall vacant.
  • Test venue: any written test or interview is held in Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar, and no TA is paid for attending.
  • Nationality: only Indian nationals can apply.

Application Submission Notes
