JNCASR Research Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology at Jakkur, Bengaluru, is hiring a Research Associate for its Engineering Mechanics Unit. You will work under the guidance of Prof. Santosh Ansumali on a computational project. This is a temporary research position, not a permanent faculty or staff post.

The project uses large-scale simulations built on finite-difference methods and physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to study systems where fluids and solids interact, with biological uses such as the flow of red blood cells. If your PhD was theoretical or computational and you enjoy writing your own solvers, this group fits that profile.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• PhD type: The PhD must be theoretical or computational, in soft matter physics, fluid mechanics or solid mechanics.
• Coding is a must: You need a strong command of C/C++ and GPU computing, and you should be able to show that you have written your own PDE solver(s).
• Temporary post: The position is temporary and tied to the faculty member's research work at the Engineering Mechanics Unit.
• Place of work: You will be based at the JNCASR campus in Jakkur, Bengaluru, inside the Engineering Mechanics Unit.
• Selection: Shortlisted candidates are invited for a technical discussion and personal interaction.
