National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) Project Associate I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

NIT Silchar has invited applications for one Project Associate - I position under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) sponsored project titled "Rational Computational Engineering of Chiral Frustrated Lewis Pairs for High-Efficiency Asymmetric Imine Hydrogenation" in the Department of Chemistry. The project focuses on designing chiral catalysts for asymmetric hydrogenation using advanced computational chemistry methods, and is led by Dr. Shanti Gopal Patra, Assistant Professor. The position is initially for 12 months and can be extended until the project completes, based on funds and performance.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: MSc in Chemistry or BS-MS in Chemistry.
• Desirable: Basic knowledge of physical/theoretical chemistry; prior knowledge of DFT (Density Functional Theory) calculations is an advantage but not mandatory.

Age Limit

• You should be up to 30 years old as on the last date of the advertisement.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD candidates get relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• You will get Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA if you qualify through CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE, or through a national-level exam conducted by a Central Government department or agency.
• Other candidates will get Rs. 30,000 per month plus HRA.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in 1 stage:

1. Interview: The date, time, and mode (online/offline) will be shared by email. No TA/DA will be paid for attending. Employed candidates must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
